Anyone add-on at SSR through Disney

We have been thinking about adding on 50-100 points at SSR for about 6 months. Last week we actually put an offer on a 100 pt resale contract but decided the total was more than we wanted to spend, especially considering the way the stock market is going again. So we decided this weekend to add on 50 through Disney and pay cash ($99 pp, 08 pts. Dec. use year)

Today I saw a 100 pt contract, correct use year, through the TSS for $68, no 08 pts. I estimated total cost around $7600 with closing costs and member fees.

I really think the 50 point add-on, along with our current contract will give us enough points for the next several years. But I keep thinking we are being silly for paying so much more through Disney. What do you think?

By the way, our first contract we purchased resale, and I thought that was pretty easy, but adding on through out guide took no effort. Couldn't believe how simple it was.

If I were thinking of adding on SSR points, I would definitely go re-sale. The deals are too good to pass up. Even if I had to wait for the perfect contract. I might even call the re-sale company and tell them what you are looking for. Sometimes the smaller contracts get snatched up quickly. By calling them, you can usually be notified before they are even posted.

I want to do an add on next year at either AKV or BLT. I already own at SSR and love it, but I wanted a little variety. However, I can't ignore the low prices on SSR re-sale. It is making my decision really tough.

Good luck with whatever you decide.:)

Many people don't seem to mind paying more for a simpler, faster sale. I don't mind waiting if it saves me enough money for an extra vacation. :thumbsup2

If a 50 point contract is what you need and there are not available right now via resale, I think you did fine. Besides, with smaller contracts the price differnence really starts to shrink away, especially when you factor in resale closing costs.

Even with a fabulous resale market right now, buying more points than you need is questionable. Remebmer, you have to pay dues every year. So if you only can use 50, there is no reason to buy more, even if they only cost $50 per point! :)

We are also adding on 50 pts and I decided to go thru Disney just for the convenience and service they offer. Its fast and simple. I'm sure the resale is just as good but for me convenience was first choice.

I just added on 60 points at SSR.
For us, we did get a CM discount with the incentives but I probably still could have gotten a better price thru resale but, as some others have also said, I did it more for convenience. I know that I will be adding on again in a year or two and will probably do it the same way.

It was just so simple going thru Disney and I just love my guide....:)

we bought 100pts ssr resale and decided that wasn't enough i haven been watching for a while now for a 50 pt contract and they are gone before i can get a hold of them so that being said we are still watching but if time runs out on us I will add on thru disney

We were in the same boat. Plenty of 100 pt resale contracts, but very few 50, and usually with the wrong use year, or they went really fast. I had a moment of panic yesterday, but I think the right thing for us is the 50 pt thru Disney.

Now I need to stop looking at the resales listing, because I'm sure a 50pt will show up next week.;)
