And if the neighbors don't like her pooping in their yard, they're free to give her a home...
Now I am not being nasty here but are you serious? Techinically you are taking care of this animal and if I don't like it pooping in my yard I should give it a home?
I don't want to clean up poop from any animal. That is why I do not have any. Can a cat be happy outdoors? I am sure they can. Should they be roaming the neighborhood? No. If you live in the country or on a farm that is one thing. If you live in a residential area then no, they should not be roaming all over. I really didn't enjoy last week when I took my kids in my own yard and after 10 mintues had to come in because one of my children ran through cat poop and it was all over his sneakers. Good times.
Our neighbor's "outdoor cats" have ruined our vegetable garden by using it as a litter box, and also killed my front gardens twice by peeing all over them. Have as many pets as you would like but be a responsible owner. I was a pet owner for many many years. Our animals never were out of our yard or house. OP- I would look for a home for the cat. That will keep it safe and your husband will feel better. I think it is really nice that you are caring for it for now though. Good luck!
