tickets. Am still trying to figure out whether to drive or fly. The only problem I see with priceline is that they pick the times and with the twins who knows what time it will be, right?

Thanks

I've never used them for airfare because you're plans need to be REALLY flexible since as you said, you can't pick the times. The other negative is that you agree to at least one connection. So the absolute worst scenario would be:

Late departure starting your trip (8pm?), a 3 hour layover at another airport, and then continuing to Orlando. On the way home, a 6am flight, a 3 hour layover at another airport, then continuing to your final destination.

The above scenario is probably extreme, although entirely possible. You'd not only lose a day on the arrival side of things AND a day on the departure side of things (due to LATE timescheule at beginning of the trip AND early timeschedule on the end of the trip), but you'd also spend a lot of time traveling compared to booking direct flights.

On the other hand, i use them all the time for HOTELS and find it to be great.

We have used them for airfare and yes you take a chance. We have only had 2 times that the flights were not so great and we dealt with it fine. The max layover they will give you is 3 hours and it doesnt happen all the time..most of our layovers have been the usual hour or so.

If you are looking for an alternative versuses driving its worth it..depending on what kind of airfares you can get yourself too.

I have used Priceline for airline tickets and have always been really happy. We fly out of 2 different cities, but both are small so we have to connect anyway. You can choose if you will accept more than 1 connection and if you will accept the red eye.

The first time I got a perfect flight.....left at 8 am and only had 1 hr layover.

The second time, I was more flexible and was willing to accept 2 connections. The flight there was a one stop, but the flight back was 2 with a 2 hr layover each time. About 3 months after I had my offer accepted, I reeived notice that they changed my return flight to one connection.....left MCO at noon and were at my destination before 5.

It is a little easier to see what you might end up with when flying from smaller airports with a commuter plane because there are so few flights.

But, with the 2 times we used Priceline, I was able to get a ticket for $230 less the second time and $180 less the first!

I've used Priceline several times for air and have nothing but great things to say. The times have always been easy to work with and on those occasions that the airline has changed my flight times, they have always been very accomadating in getting me on flights that would work for me. I've had nonstop plights from them (when travelling out of O'Hare in Chicago).

This trip I purchased through Hotwire (my first time through them) and while my flight times are great, the airline (Northwest), wouldn't assign our seats for the flight. (I did find out that this was printed on the Hotwire site though I didn't see it).
