Anybody try the Nickelodeon Hotel?

The character breakfast at the Nick hotel is NOT free...and lots of people say it was expensively disappointing. We will try it anyway, in November, but I am not expecting much. All other meals we will travel via car to get....plus some light groceries for the fridge/microwave. The "kids aet free" idea sounds great....but way too many people have posted that the food is aweful and you end up spending a lot of $$ anyway. :guilty:

There is plenty to do at the hotel, don't worry about scheduling something else. The character breakfast is not free. It's not bad just nothing to write home about. My kids liked it because they like the Nick characters and they hardly ever eat much at character breakfasts at Disney either. We did go out to DTD for dinner, took a cab and then came back and the kids went back to the pool again!

Regarding the character breakfast- it will be free for us thru a special deal for September- Sun-thurs nite stay and get the character breakfast for free.
I am really looking forward to seeing the girls faces when they see this place-they absolutely adore Nick!

I can completely relate to your anticipation of seeing your children's faces.....we are surprising our 2 kids with a 5 night stay there after our Disney Cruise! :cool1: :cheer2:
We are pretending we are going to the airport and we are really going to the Nick Hotel.....they are going to freak out! Totally freak out! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

They LOVE Sponge Bob and the gang!

well-I just booked a kidsuite w/ bunkbeds. Originally booked direct w/ the hotel but I just checked online and saved $20 a day by booking online w/ the AAA discount rather than the Moussavers discount. I'll call and cancel the original ressie-

I was told that the adult bed was a queen but I reserved a king- does anyone know which it is? (we're used to King) Also- plan to arrive Sat night and hang out at the hotel then and most of Sunday- is there enough at the pools to keep us occupied or should I budget for another activity for 1/2 the day? We're planning to do Seaworld on Monday for dd's bday-and will do the free Character breakfast on Monday too. I want to eat Breakfast/lunch at the hotel since kids are free but I am getting fearsome by the food reviews! Maybe a movie/dinner deal at Universal for Saturday nite?

It depends on which room you booked. There are two different types of kidsuites, one has a King bed in the adults room and bunk beds in the kids room. The other has a Queen bed in the adults room and twin beds in the kids room. If you asked for the twin beds, you can't get a King bed with that configuration. If it doesn't matter to you, just call and see if you can switch it. Good luck.

Have stayed here 3 times when it was still HIFS. Here's what we thought of the remodel:

Great theming - the "splats"'s, Nick characters and shilouette's of Nick characters along with the lime green and orange everywhere are very entertaining. The remodel has made the place look very new and lively. There was a part of me that missed the hokey quaintness of the silly train theme they used to have, but it was a little like seeing some kids we knew get all growed up. Sigh.

Rooms look great! We had a Sponge Bob room (Yay!) which DD, 8, LOVED. She actually danced with the Sponge Bob on the wall. We came here because DD lobbied for it, but REALLY appreciated having the separate rooms. The new colors in the room were also lively and bright and really pleasing- there was this great abstract poster in the master bedroom that had a hidden Sponge Bob in it.

The pools were AWESOME. We always like the now-called "Lagoon Pool" before all the water slides were added and now the TWO water park pools were Fabulous!!!!!

The character breakfast was enjoyable as any of the Disney character breakfasts - it wasn't too crowded and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Made to order omlettes were great - other food was just OK. We saw Dora, Cosmo, Wanda, Patrick and Sponge Bob (the first 4 roamed and Sponge Bob stood in the corner). They did a dance all together just as we were finishing - perfect end to our trip.

The entertainment was great- we went to the 6:00 Studio Nick Live show (free) - there were 4 shows the days we were there - the tickets are free but were sold out the day we checked in. The show and all of the shows by the pools were just like the Double Dare show and perfect for the 8-year-olds; adults had fun too - always entertaining to see grown-ups get silly on stage. The balloon animals were themselves entertainment since the guy did these AMAZING pieces. We even managed to bring ours home - don't ask me how!

Miscellaneous - Check in was friendly and fast. Housekeeping was OK in general - seemed to be spotty with the coffee. Maintenance responded right away to fix a sound coming from the toilet one day.

We had a wonderful time and will probably be back again since DD LOVED LOVED LOVED it.
