Okay, when I was younger I remember going on a ride where it showed man "creating" the wheel. It was somewhat like Spaceship Earth with all the animatronic technology. I can't for the life of me remember the name.

Also, does anybody remember what the Universe of Energy was like before it became Ellen's Energy Crisis. I remember it being more of a ride - the dinosaur section was just the beginning wasn't it? I feel like there was much more? Anyone remember?

think the first ride was the gm ride...was it world of motion?( not positive of the name?) where TTis now personally i liked the old one better

the energy was a film (pretty boring on coal, oil and how it's formed) with a cartoon dino at the end then it opened , the seats moved( remember how we thought that was just so cool our rows were moving )to the animatronic dinos.

I haven't been on it in awhile, but do you think the first ride you asked about is Carousel of Progress in MK? It sounds like something that might be in it. It's in Tomorrowland and follows a family from early times to modern.

Nah, I know CoP - It was an old ride that's not there anymore.

World of Motion - that's probably it, jann, thanks!!!! I really liked that ride. Definitely a lot better than TT.
And yes, now I'm remembering the UofE ride...It was just as long as EEC is now too I think... And at the end they always had these little leaflets with the Exxon tiger on it - you could color it in and I think there may have been some games the kids could play in the leaflet as well.

I am pretty sure this was World of Motion sponsored by GM at Epcot.

Yup, World of Motion. My mom worked for GM and we were able to go into the "lounge" and get front of the line privildges. It was pretty cool. It was one of our most favorite rides. I was disappointed when it went away.

I remember when I rode this as a teen in the late 80's. We were bored to tears!! It was a super long boring movie about sources of energy, blah, blah, blah. The best part was the trip back in time to see the dinosaurs. I remember we used to avoid this ride all the time until they updated it. Now at least it's entertaining! :flower1:

And now's the part where you say, "YES, THAT'S IT!"

Yeah, I agree - EEC is so much better... except for that last segment after the dinosaurs...

What about Horizons...I don't recall exactly what kind of ride that was.

Oh and does anyone remember a robot that used to guess your birthday among other things? You used to talk to him through a phone and people would stand around a big circle - where he was in the center? I think this may have been where Innoventions now is.

You mean in the Universe of Engery my seats dont move anymore??! Ugh. I feel like everytime they change a ride part of my childhood goes missing.

The seats still move, the pre-show and the show after you move through to see the dinosaurs is what has changed.

Don't worry- the seats still move through the dinosaur scene. The film changed from the rather dry, boring one (with the animated dino) to the Jeopardy/Ellen one. But those seats still tour the dino world!

horizons was the one where you got to pick the ending by pushing a button in your car..underwater, space or ??? ( senility is setting in) you rode in little cabs that swiveled around and saw in the "future" where people would live.. one was seabase alpha i think it was called

sorry i didn't mean to imply the seats didn't move now just how we were totally blown away the first time it happened.. i remember our whole family gasped and looked at each other so shocked :rotfl: I do love the ability Disney has to truely amaze me

Ahhh yes! Why does Epcot have to get rid of the good long informative rides and put in Test Track and Journey Into YOUR Imagination starring Figment and (I know most people here like it, but it's just my opinion) Mission: Space...and for some reason I remember Innoventions being so much cooler when it was Communicore (sp?)
