I was so addicted I would be home no matter what at 3pm and watch. My class was the test dummies for this show and some others but I forgot what they were.

Well, I've never seen the original, but I LOVE the new episodes!!! They are pretty good, and they deal with real issues!!::yes:: :teeth:

It was filmed in Toronto and there is a website for it. You'll have to do a google search on it, as I never watched it.

I remember it!

anyone remember the song that the guys in the show made up in their band?

'everybody wants something, they'll never give up...'

or am i the only dork that remembers???:p

I've never seen the new one, but I loved the old show. They dealt with real issues like drugs, sex, pregnancy, parent/child relationships, homosexuality. Wasn't the band called the Zit Remedy :)?

i used to watch the old one when i was in middle school. :)

LOL you are not the only dork here, I remember the song well. My kids were teenagers when Degrassi Junior High was on, and they never missed an episode. It was cool that they actually liked a Canadian show so much.

Yup. We used to watch it in homeroom when I was in 6th grade. It was "cutting edge" at that time. :)

I remember Degrassi High! But I think Iwas in lower elementary school when it came on. It was on my PBS station!

:wave2:

Are you talking about the very first series or the one that took place in the late 80s/early 90s?

I went to kindergarten with the twins :)

hey, I was in college and used to watch the original. It was on I think sunday mornings? I'm sure they were repeats. great for when I was hungover.

I confess to watching the new episodes now, just discovered them. trying to explain the first ones to my dh, who pretends not to be hooked, but is.

did anybody read in entertainment weekly about the episodes they won't air in the US? About Manny getting pg and having an abortion. The funniest excuse was that it was because the summer is for light subjects, not for anything that heavy. Um, excuse me, but didn't a girl (don't remember her name) just end up in the hospital because of her abusive boyfriend? Not exactly fluff!

I started watching Degrassi this Winter with my13 dd at night. She told me she started watching last summer. They have Degrassi on at 10:30 p.m-11L30 p.m I think on ABC Family channel or is it the disney channel, I can't remember. It was fun watching the shows every night. We didn't have to wait a whole week for a new.

My roommate makes fun of me for watching the new Degrassi episodes. I can't help but get into all the drama :p

I watched the old one and should really be embarassed to admit that I've seen several episodes of the new one. I'm too old and my kids are too young. I just love the way that show is written and the way it tackles real issues that teens deal with today. My official "excuse" is that I teach Sunday School to the 16 and 17 year-olds and that watching it helps me "relate to them." I know, my hubby doesn't buy it either. :p

The one in the 80s. I wonder what happened to them all. They couldfeature them on VH1s "what ever happened to".

Chalk me up to remembering. I even remember a show called Fifteen it had the guy named Ryan that was on 2 Guys and a girl (he played Berg). He is dating Alannis Morrisette who was on You Cant Do that On Television (which was the one that I had to watch everyday after school) lol I was such a dork!

I never saw the old ones. I watch the new episodes on now,
Degrassi:The Next Generation. After I started watching the new ones I wanted to see the old ones where spike, snake, joey, and caitlin are teens. In the new Degrassi they are all adults and parents.::yes:: ::yes:: :sunny: :sunny:

I used to love the original. I never missed an episode. I was so sad when it finally ended. I watch the new ones with my DD now and I'm hooked as well. I didn't hear anything about not showing some of the episodes in the US. My DD heard about Manny getting pregnant and is waiting for that episode to come on, I guess I will tell her that it won't be showing.
