I have poked around on the boards every once in a great while about the closing of the Catwalk Lounge (I think that was the name) above the Brown Derby...anybody hear of why it closed and if it will ever open? DH and I used to have a nice time up there and remember it so nostalgically!

Hubby and I remember catwalk lounge. It was a neat place to go. They need more great places like that for adults.

It was above Playhouse Disney...When they had a restaurant in there. Soundstage restaurant maybe? We used to like eating there a lot. I was a little too young for the lounge though...

I would like to say I am "too young" to remember this place or have had a drink there, but that would be a lie. We enjoyed this lounge and would gladly give up Bear In the Big Blue House for its return. However, we don't have real little children who like Playhouse Disney. DS is 9 and he and DH vote to skip this show each year. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

That was a wonderful place to escape. It was quiet, relaxing and served great chili. I do miss it.

Took my son up there for a break. It was quiet and cool. We'd share a submarine sandwich and have a juice and drink. The nice thing was that we could look down on the character meal going on below where the Playhouse Disney is now. He could watch characters while I took a break! Seems like it was called Breakfast with Aladdin. They had those gold spitting camels out front! Miss the catwalk and the character meal.

I miss it as well-used to go up there prior to dinner at Brown Derby. Nice overstuffed chairs!!!
Doubt we'll ever see it open again---

They closed it when they opened the Bear in the Big Blue House Show. We loved that place, and it was always busy. I think they could have moved Bear (or Playhouse Disney as it is now called) and kept the area as character dining with the wonderful bar. It was so much nicer than the Tune In Lounge... quieter and more intimate with a really eclectic selection of bottled beers. Does anyone remember the Hemp Beer.... yum!!!!

My DH and I loved The Cat Walk. We would go up there sit at the bar and watch a game on t.v. and relax. It was a nice break! :earsboy: :earsgirl: : princess: :mickeybar

I'm now wondering if we're all talking about the same place??
I always thought the Catwalk was the small bar/lounge above the Brown Derby restaurant--had lots of large overstuffed chairs. Rather smallish bar area--.
I don't recall it being above the Soundstage, or anyplace with a character meal. But I see from an older Birnbaum that the Catwalk WAS above the Soundstage restaurant, not the Brown Derby.
So now I wonder--what place am I thinking of?? Or is it the same place MOVED from an original location??
Or have I just gone crazy???
I know something was above the Brown Derby---

The Catwalk Lounge when we went to it maybe 4, 5 years ago (?) was above where Bear in the Big Blue House was. It was accessible through the Brown Derby, though, up a staircase sort of to the left when you entered the Brown Derby. When you got up there, you could overlook where the 'Bear' show was. I don't think it closed because of Bear, because when we used to go there, the Bear shows would end around 5pm and then they opened the lounge upstairs. It was dark in there, with big couches and overstuffed chairs with lots of props and wierd items sitting around. Very quiet and off the beaten path. I suspect that they closed it because I THINK another attraction is now held where 'Bear' was and maybe the hours of that show conflict with hours of the lounge. I am not really sure though and can't really get any hard details as to what happened. It is much better than Tune In Lounge, though, I agree! It sure would be nice if they opened it up again...I do miss it!

My husband and I really miss the Catwalk Lounge. It was a great place to relax and have a drink.

I loved the Catwalk Lounge for the same reasons that others mentioned, nice and cool and out of the way.

I believe there were two ways to it when there was a restaurant downstairs. On the left wall of the restaurant there were a set of stairs that went up to it. There was another set of stairs from the Hollywood Brown Derby.

Whenever I was there (usually during the offseason, 3 or 4 times a year) there may have been only one or two groups in the bar, so I attributed its ultimate closing to lack of business.

I believe that is why it closed. But in them days, the Brown Derby wasn't terribly busy. Now with Fantasmic, it's almost always crowded, and they need the Catwalk more than ever!!! Now when you have to wait for your table at BD, you need to stand around outside, or sit in that all too small inside wait area. Would be nice to have the Catwalk back so folks waiting for tables could relax and have a drink---.

Exactly. The two times I was there it was very quiet (of course not everyone is comfortable drinking before dinner ;) )

I remember it being upstairs from BD but I don't remember where Bear in the Big Blue House was so it could very well have been there and I never noticed it.
