What do you want to know about it? It's our 'company standard' camera - I have used it a bunch and really like it. I used one myself before the company bought me a Canon SD400. I actually think the A95 took better pictures, but the SD400 is just so tiny and portable that it makes up for it. I'm no photographer, so it is important for me to just be able to leave a camera on Auto then point and shoot the thing and still get some nice pictures. You will need to get a bigger memory card than the puny 16 or 32 MB version that comes with the camera.

I don't have the A95, but do have the A75. I loved it since I got it and have never had a problem at all. It's nice for beginner/intermediate photographers since it's got automatic settings and some manual features as well. My only complaint with the A75 was the glare on the screen since it was mirrored, but I believe they've corrected that with the A95.

I have it and I love it. Some of my favorite features are...

- Swiveling LCD screen. This screen is very bright and I have no problems using it outdoors - in fact, I rarely if ever use the optical viewfinder. And the swiveling part means it's easy to take a picture over your head, for example, or even a picture of yourself, and still be able to see exactly what's in the viewfinder.
- Takes AA batteries. And even with the LCD in use, the batteries last a looong time (300+ photos) as long as I use the type made for electronic devices.
- Multiple focusing points for the autofocus.
- Very compact and lightweight... fits easily in a pocket or fanny pack.

There are only two things I would change. I wish it had a more powerful zoom. So far I've been able to zoom and crop in Photoshop, and the photos are still crisp, so I'm happy, but it would be nice to zoom more in camera. A friend of mine has the next step up in the Canon line, with a 10X optical zoom. Very very nice, but larger and heavier, so the A95 is a better camera to take to Disney. And the other thing is the dial on top of the camera that lets you select the various modes... it's a little too easy to change this accidentally. There needs to be a way to lock it. Or maybe there is and I haven't found it! Anyway, it's a wonderful camera and I highly recommend it.

I replied on your other thread:

2 different cameras you're looking at. For one, the kodak has a bigger optical zoom, so the size of the camera is also bigger than the A95. The canon uses regular AA batteries, while the kodak uses proprietary batteries - that's a consideration if you buy extra batteries, rechargeables are cheap while the proprietaries usually more expensive.

I personally would go for the A95 because I trust Canon more than Kodak, but if it's the zoom you're looking for, I would go with the Canon S1 IS. The Kodak, while it has a long zoom, it does not have image stabilization which is really important when you're maxing the zoom. Plus, I don't really like that the Kodak doesn't have a manual focus feature. That's just too important to leave out, IMO.

Here's a link to a side by side comparison between the 3 cameras:

I bought the A95 a couple months ago and absolutely love it! It is my first digital, I had a Canon APS before but I so love the digital more. Very simple to use and takes great pictures. My sister in law has the A80 and loves it as well.

My friend has the A80 and he's been very happy with it.
I bought a Canon S45 and it's a nice camera, but I was disappointed with the poor low light performance. But that's a problem with all point and shoot digital cameras. As far as Kodak cameras, they were definitely lower quality than Canon a few years ago, but they've improved dramatically in the last few years and their mid and high end cameras are very good.

I understand why some people think manual focus is important. I would agree, except the manual focus on most point and shoot cameras is usually a pain to use. I have it on my S45 and I don't think I've ever used it.
My next digital camera will probably be one of the Canon Digital Rebels, but at ~$1000, it's not in the budget yet.

At this point, if you are deciding between Canon and Kodak, I'd say pick based on the features that are most important to you.
Here are a couple other sites with good in-depth reviews of lots of cameras.

Oooh, I had that camera and it's now a pile of garbage somewhere. Please please please do a search with these words: canon & e18. Canon has a huge problem with e18 errors on the powershots..Canon will not recognize it's a problem or recall them. I thought it was just a rare thing, ignored the warnings I read, and sure enough...mine croaked. Essentially it revolves around a messed up retractable lens that tends to jam/freak out (among other things, but this is the big issue). The camera will shut down and refuse to work.

I've read that Canon will only exchange this camera with a refurbished camera, not a new one if you are within your warranty. I was outside of my one year, repair would cost over $150. Thankfully my credit card company extended my warranty and gave me a credit to buy a whole new camera.

Guess where it first happened to me? At Magic Kingdom! First day of vacation, camera kept messing up so badly we had to get a yucky disposable. How's that for irony?

I just bought one a few months ago.

I searched Consumer Reports to see what they liked too.

I got it at Target & it was on sale & I got a $25 Target gift card on top of it.

So far I like it. I did have a Kodak DC???, 2 MP camera but I wanted some video which that camera didn't have.

I love the swivel screen, the fact that it takes AA batteries & that it used the same memory card as my Kodak did/does.

Good Luck.

I have the A80. My first digital camera and I think it's great. While I am still learning how to use it, and I do not know alot of the technical things about it - I do know I get great pictures from it.

I have a canon S410 and LOVE it. In fact I left it in Vegas and bought another one just like it. I like the rechargeable batteries and the three minute video. IT is easy to use. If you like this one you can get it online at Walmart for 247.00 Good deal.

This camera is a gem. Take some time to become familiar with it, and read the manual, and you'll be rewarded with some awesome snaps.

The camera is hefty enough to feel solid, and cut down on camera shake. But it's small enough to slip into a fanny pack, with no fuss. I like the swiveling LCD screen, so you can protect the thing when you aren't using it, and I am AMAZED and THRILLED at the quality of the pictures. I can't wait to finally take this baby down to Orlando and put it through its paces.

FWIW: I googled and checked amazon and epinions and a few digital camera web sites, and this little baby got consistently high marks from both the pros and ordinary folk (like me! :teeth:).

Also: get two sets of rechargable batteries! One set will last about 250 pictures -- but you will be shocked at how quickly you reach the limit and need to replace 'em.
