Anybody NOT a drinker?

I will drink at weddings and such(Malibu Baybreezes), but I never ever have alcohol in the house, like you, not for moral reasons.
I just think that wine, beer, champagne taste disgusting and I truly cannot believe that people actually enjoy the taste. LOL Of course, I think that about coffee as well.

When I was a teenager I used to drink beer though-I'd choke it down, but I hated it. There was no other alternative at parties though, no one had a bar with yummy girly drinks being served. LOL

I drink....but very lightly. I may average 2 drinks a month...if that much. I do like the taste of some drinks but I don't go out of my way to get one when I'm out and about. However, if that restaurant in NYC would make blood orange cosmopolitans like they used too.......my average might rise above 2 drinks a month.

Wow, someone resurected this thread! :goodvibes
I started it ahwile ago back in October I think. When I saw the title today I thought, hey I started that exact thread once. Then I realized it was my old one back in time for the holidays I guess!! :rotfl: Join in all you non-drinkers!!

I don't drink either ( and I'm Irish too). I HATE coffee, bu love tea.

you guys are all lying, koalas are the only animals that don't drink

I have a confession to make. I don't drink alcohol at all. Not even wine with a meal or a beer with friends or something fun and fruity while on vacation. It's not a moral issue so don't applaud my will power or anything. I just don't like the taste!

I've tried to like it. Imagine my disappointment when I finally turned 21 and was able to legally drink and order various drinks whenever we went out only to not like any of them. In Cancun on vacation with DH they had these fun fruity looking drinks with umbrellas and other decorations in them and I couldn't wait to try one. When I did, it was terrible.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. In high school my mom asked if I drank. I said "no mom, I've tried and tried to become a drinker but I just can't!" True story. I don't even like the champagne at weddings.

Am I lucky? Or weird? Or just drinking the wrong things? :confused3 Maybe I need some really good drink suggestions.

There is nothing wrong with you. My husband is not a drinker either. It is great. We have a built in driver when ever we go out. He had a mudslide one night about six months ago with a meal and it was a sight to see. Have you ever tried a mudslide? It is the only thing my husband will drink.

Mmmmmmmmm ... one of my faves!

I do like alcohol if it's a good wine (not too dry, not too acid), in a fruity drink, or with anything chocolate! I won't drink a plain old rum and coke, for example - I'd rather drink water, fresh lemonade or a plain Coke (but usually just with junk food). I have found that a good wine really can enhance a good meal, and I enjoy the little "kick" that comes with alcohol added to a yummy drink. If the alcohol isn't in the drink (i.e. I'm drinking a virgin version), then I find it's usually too sweet and sickening, and I'd just choose something else, usually water.

I never had a single alcoholic drink in my life. I never even tried it - one reason is I can't stand the smell, so I know I would hate the taste, too! And I just don't care to, as drinking alcohol never interested me. I have no problem with adults who do drink, though. No moral high horse here! :)

But what is surprising is that I grew up and still live in a town where most high school kids live to drink at parties. Underage drinking is a HUGE problem around here. My town (and ones like it around us) have many entitled rich kids who do whatever they want, and parents who protect them from everything. Among the high school/college kids here, you are "uncool" if you don't live to get drunk! :sad2:

I don't drink at all either. Tried it and thank God I didn't like it. I don't care what other's think or how they talk about me. It isn't for everyone

I don't really drink anymore either. I used to drink in high school and college but I just stopped in the past couple of year or so.

I will still drink every now and then but I just don't see the point anymore!

I like the taste of dr. pepper much better!

I wish I had that problem.....I actually love the taste of beer with food. I cannot imagine watching a college football game without wings and an ice cold one.... :drinking1 I also love mixed drinks  However, while I love white wine, for some reason, I do not care for the taste of red wine.....Again, I can easily not drink, but I do like the taste....

I don't drink either. These days it's for moral reasons...

But when I was in college and going through my party phase...I would get really sick the day after I drank...and I'm not talking about throwing up....

It made for some pretty embarrassing situations and finally I just decided drinking wasn't worth the toilet time required the day after.

I know, too much information. Sorry.

Non-drinker. Never have. My parents didn't. I have no desire to try it. I drink Diet Pepsi, water, milk, iced tea, & orange juice.

I come from an alcoholic family so NO I don't drink alcohol. The mere smell of alcohol on someone's breath traumatizes me. Not only do I not drink I cannot be around drinkers or people who joke about drinking. I become the little girl who lost 7 aunts and uncles to alcoholism and nearly a father... it is literally the one thing in my life I have not conquered.

Robinrs, I just had to give you a hug. :grouphug:

Both DH and I don't like the taste, I can't stand the smell of beer. I do however love mixed drinks, I just love them with out the alcohal. ;)

Dh and I were at a wedding a few weeks ago. We both had a sip of champane with the toast, looked at each other and said "why do people like this?"

While I don't drink because I don't like the taste, I also feel good about this descion because I used to work as a clinical threapsit. Many of my patients had issues with drinking and part of my job was to help them stop. I felt that if I was talking with them about being sober and then hitting the bar or bottle (even if my drinking was under control.) it would be hipercrital. Also drinking is a tricky thing. I can be done safely, but the risks are great and the slope is step. All in all life is generaly better with out. (besides I have never needed it to be silly, cut loose or even feel sexy. ;)

dont drink parents were alcholics one mean one depressed . other additions run in my family so no need to do this to myself having lived the other side of pisking up the pieces of others

I think I already posted on this thread, but I turned 21 in March and I just don't care to drink. I know, you probably are all thinking I'm some sort of freak...in college and doesn't drink (well, OK, maybe not). It's just not me. I think also part of it has to do with my parents, and they don't drink much at all.

On the other hand, my friend's 21st birthday is tomorrow, so she's going out to a bar at midnight to celebrate.

I don't drink either! The funny thing is mine is partly moral (grew up in a household with strict no drinking allowed plus there have been other family issues that have involved alcohol in a negative way) but also because I can't stand the stuff! :rotfl:

I had 2 sips of beer in High School which I *literally* spit out it was so gross! So, then turned 21, went to a comedy club - my friend had told me I should try a wine cooler because it doesn't taste of alcohol - sounded like a plan to me. I literally had ONE SIP of the drink, then ordered a coke! It was gross.

So, it is now a running joke with my friend that apparently I just am overly sensitive to it...I guess the first hint should have been that I can *barely* get Nyquil down, that has me plugging my nose and then drinking like 4 small cups of water down to tolerate it and then my hands start to burn but at least it knocks me out and I'm usually desperate when I take it! I'm so glad they invented gel caps for that stuff now! :lmao:

We always laugh that if I ever actually managed to drink an entire drink of anything I would be knocked out so fast it wouldn't even be funny. I'm sure I would be completely drunk before I even got finished with the drink.

I just always order my Pepsi now and not worry about it. I never had a big desire to drink anyway, so no big deal to me.
