Anybody learn a language on their own?

That is very good to know. My daughter goes to an English-speaking Chinese school on Saturday. All the signs in the school lobby are in Chinese though. I'd like to know what they say. Plus Chinese sounds cool when spoken.

This has a database of traditional Chinese characters. It really doesn't help me that much with my class since my instructor uses simplified characters.

If you can, you could borrow a Chinese dictionary from the library. To look up a character in the dictionary, you need to find the radical that is its base, and in the front of the dictionary should be a radical index. From there it tells you what number to go on for the radical chart, you look up that number and there is a long list of characters, you find the one you are looking for and it should have its pronunciation next to it, then you can find it in the dictionary. Its kinda like solving a puzzle!!

Do you have a pic of the signs in the school lobby? I'd love to see them!!
