Anybody know of a virus going around that inclds a real high fever?

I think she's getting better! Her temp this morning was 99.9, which is the lowest it's been since this started. Hopefully it will stay down today!!!!
Thanks for all your input. How nerve-wracking!!

If the temperature is terrible, our doctors have said that Motrin and Tylenol can be taken together. They both bring down the temperature, but they effect the system in different ways. I think they'd rather you NOT do that, but with a temp of 104, I think they'd rather treat the temp aggressively rather than let your child bake like an oven roaster. The important thing is to NEVER overdose with the same medication. That's why they say to take motrin AND tylenol, not just increasing what is already being taken. Of course, ask a doctor first.

I hope you little one feels better soon!

If her temp is going down a bit- remember that it will usually go up in the evening and at night and should go back down in the morning hours.

I'd still go on vacation and take lots of anti-fever meds with me in case she starts to feel bad again. When the fever goes away she shouldn't be able to share the virus so no danger for others around her at the resort. Is she alergic to the red dyes in the tylenol? It seems that all the antibiotics have the red dye in them too - I just gritted my teeth when I had to give something with red dye to my son- it made him bonkers with naughty behavior- good news- she may grow out of it- he has!-

I agree with another poster- look at her - is she playing when the motrin takes affect? One time my oldest son had a fever of around 100 and he didn't want to eat or play- another time he had a fever of 104 and he was bouncing off of the walls-? go figure- kids are a mystery.

Have fun- seems to me that my kids ALWAYS come down with "something" just as we are ready to leave for vacation! ::yes::

It's very frightening to have a fever that just wants to get higher and higher. My oldest has immunosuppression problems and can get very sick very very fast so I understand the worries of high fevers. So glad the fever is backing off!

Hi BWV Denise

YES!!! A bad virus especially here in New Jersey. I live in Ocean County and our son has been to the doctor twice in the last two weeks. It is a throat virus... high fever... some may even vomit (he did)... some have a cough (he does not) and some have secondary infections with ear (he did). Well.... in Eckerd they sell these patches to place on forehead called "BeKool" they are for children. My DS is 20 years old and I bought them for him. I wanted to bring that fever down and make him more comfortable. What a great puchase. Fever DID come down and stayed down. We are leaving on Thursday next week and our concern was the same. Well... I hope your DD's fever goes down today. I also hope and pray as I do for myself, that no one else in your family gets this. Enjoy your trip... that is sure to put a smile on your DD's face. :sunny:

Glad to hear she is improving Denise. Keep us posted if you have time with packing and all! And yes, take plenty of meds, since they cost a lot more at WDW!
