Hi: We are looking at going to the gulf coast for a few nights, does anyone have any recommendations on a nice mid priced motel/hotel near the beach. Thinking of the sarasota/siesta key/longboat key area? But will take recommendations of other areas as I am not too familiar with the gulf coast.

Thanks,

Deb.

Hi Deb! How are you DH and your girls?:)

We stayed on Anna Maria Island which is the island right next to Longboat Key and we absolutely loved it! This place http://www.beachdirectory.com/queensgate/ (The Queensgate Resort) has all kinds of different kinds of rooms and even has a couple of cottages to rent and it is soooo nice.Take a look at their site and if you need any questions answered just ask!:)

Happy planning!;)

Since 12/2005, we have spent 4 weeks in Siesta Key. We rent a one bedroom cottage from an owner on vrbo. The condo only rents by the week though. Off season rate is about $400/wk plus tax. On-season is about $800/wk plus tax. The condo is across the street from Crescent beach. It is a nice unit, about 675 sq. ft., full kitchen, living room, dining room, one bedroom, sleeps 4 (pull out queen couch in the living room), very clean, no smoking, no pets. Nice pool, laundry room but no other amenities.

The beach is incredible and the area very nice.

If interested pm me and I can give you the vrbo # of the owner.

If not interested, try www.siestakeychamber.com and have them surface mail you a siesta key guide. In it , you will find a ton of info. on hotels/motels in the area.

Our second choice in Siesta key is aloha kai. It is on the beach and offers the largest pool on the island. I think they might rent by the night so this might be a better choice for you. We didn't stay here since the vrbo condo was quite a bit cheaper but I really liked the layout of this place plus the large pool. You might want to google the web site.

Hi: Thanks everyone for your help, All the places look nice, and the beach area is so inviting. I will do some more research and hope hubby can get the time off in the fall that we need.

Hi Cindy, everyone is fine, hope you and yours are doing well also.

Bye,

Deb.
