Anybody know anything about injection molds?

I'm wondering what type of place I should look for that could make me some big geese statues. They'd need to be fiberglass to something injected into a mold that could be painted.
Also, an idea of cost would be nice too.

In the far corners of my mind (lol) I recall how some people made their own statues and garden items using molds and cement on the one of the boards at www.thathomesite.com . There are molds out there - I just can't recall the links, sorry.

So you are looking for only a few custom pieces or a run of parts to sell?

Some of the places that do it for other companies have the ability to do prototype molds but they are very expensive.

I use a compnay that does that, but they are in Idaho. Could you deal with somebody in Idaho?

I don't think it would be feasible to work with a company out of town. We'd need about 50 of these and they'll be about 4-5 feet tall. I think the transportation costs would sink us!

There are companies that do injection molds all over. Try searching on www.thomasregister.com. You can search for companies then limit your search to a specific state.

Hi all, as some of you might have figured out i don't come around here all that often, i do peek in from time to time. since my mother wdw4us uses this board quite often she came across this. I am a special effects artist, who uses injection molds on a frequent basis. if you are up to making your own molds i can set you up with some instructions however if you find that you are not comfortable with using some dangerous or caustic chemicals/products i would suggest having it done elsewhere. If you plan on having this done in somebody's factory and are going to have them shipped be forwarned of a big shipping charge. But there is another option...i would say leave a message theeffectslab com here in that forum and leave it either the 'off topic' or 'Classifieds' sections. and im sure there will be somebody near you that would be willing to help you out. I would jump at this chance myself however i have just moved and all of my effects stuff are packed away =(.
