Anybody know about seasonally availability of flowers?

I'm in the process of helping plan a bridal shower for a friend's daughter. The bride would like to have orchids as floral centerpieces at a mid-spring shower. In the past few weeks Kroger and Meijer's have had potted orchids on sale and now I hear Sam's Club has them out.

Do orchids have a "season" where they are usually readily available?

Dendrobium orchids , the common ( cheap type ) that you see potted for sale at the grocery stores are available year long.
However, mid-spring most of those stores ( sam's club ect ) will not have them for sale because the retail/shelf space is allocated to other cheaper seasonal potted flowers, like primroses and the like.

You should contact a local garden center/greenhouse for mid spring availability , but expect to pay more.

Upon looking at this article it was dated for Feb, so I think they meant that Feb-April is peak for blooming. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I suspect they are selling at Christmas because it is time for the growers to let some go and make money for the holidays.
