I got it for my niece for her bday.

I got her dora, barney and blues clues.. I wanted pooh but they were out!

Tell me your experience/favorite games/skill level?

We have one, DS4 got it for xmas last yr. He had turned 3 the Aug. before. He could not and did not want to play it. We had Elmo and the game that came with it. He seemed to young for it. I put it away and JUST pulled it out about a month ago when I found some games on clearance. HE LOVES IT NOW. I think he needed to be a little older for it. Im looking foward to buying him the new stuff they came out with this year. The jumping pad looks like fun. My best friends dd got it when she was 3 also ( she is a month younger than my DS).. and immediatly jumped on it and has been playing it ever since.

Where did you find games on clearance and how much were they? which?

And I didn't see a jump pad!

I'm scared she will be too little . I got it for her 3rd bday... but I figure she, like your son, will eventually grow into it if she doesn't like it now..

My oldest got it when she was 3.5 and never used it then. This summer I pulled it out again, (she's 5 now) and she used it a little, but I decided to sell it instead. She much prefers the leapster to the vsmile. I think she liked seeing the games on the tv, but the L-Max does that too and we will probably upgrade to that leapster next summer when her younger sister gets one.

I got him the Wiggles, and Bob the Builder. I also bought the Little Mermaid game for my friend's DD. All were $8 and i got them at Walmart prob. mid Aug.
They also had Elmo marked down, but we had it and they Barney too.
Toysrus has them buy 2 get 1 free till Sat night. Here is the link for the jump pad. http://www.amazon.com/Vtech-V-Smile.../102-1993938-9204946?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games

I bought it for my 6 and 3 year old last Christmas. The 3 year old plays it everyday,he loves it.

My guy got his last Christmas (4) and he loves it. He likes Spiderman, wiggles, the alphabet game it came with, scooby doo.

we bought it for our DSs 6 and 4 for Christmas last year. We also bought the a/c adapter and the extra joystick, plus spiderman and tomas the train games. My DS6 played it for a few weeks and my DS4 wasn't interested( I think it was too hard for him to figure out). After that, neither of them were interested in it. I'm thinking about selling it on Ebay. I bought them a Nintendo 64 about a month ago and both of them absolutely love playing that.

My dd 5 got one for Christmas last year (I think it was last year). Her lil sis likes to play too, but she's still a little too young to really play (2 3/4). We have gobs of games, but I've never paid $20 for a game. I didn't pay $60 for the v-smile either. I waited until close to Christmas and got what I thought was a great deal at Toys R Us that came with an extra free game or something like that. Not long after my local Meijer marked a v-smile down for around $40 and had their games on clearance! Obviously I returned the Toys R Us one.

Toys R Us every so often (like right now) has buy 2 get 1 free. Lots of places mark down the games when new packaging comes out or new games are being brought out. I've gotten games for $8-13. No way would I pay $20 each.

I think it's cute they have a pink one now for girls instead of just orange. We have orange. Regular v-smile hooks up to the tv. V smile pocket is portable, but can also be connected to the tv.

One reason I was willing to splurge is b/c I have 2 kids and might have more later, so it will get plenty of use. Plus, while it is fun and is a video game, it really is educational.

DD's fav games seem to be Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Dora, Pooh, and Nemo. We also have Care Bears, Toy Story, Barney, Blues Clues, Mickey Mouse, Elmo, and the alphabet game it came with. Yes, we have a lot! I have a hard time passing up a good deal, and they made good Christmas/birthday gifts that don't take up much room! lol

We have it...we've had it for about two years. The boys all like it...they go through phases with it (but that is typical with all their stuff). I like that it has skill sets for different ages and it is very educational for the most part. My boys are 8, 6 and 3 and they were all playing tonight...Spiderman and Friends :D

My ds4 loves it! We have had it for a year and a half and he has alwyas enjoyed playing it. His favorite game is Buzz and my ds2.5 loves to play Elmo and Blues Clues. The thing that I like best about it is the fact that the games are geared towards different age groups. So far, the ages assigned to the different games has been right on for us. My boys love it and we take it with us when we are going to be involved in such fun activities as a doctor appointment!

Thank you all so much for your feedback! I think my niece will enjoy this.. if not now, maybe even in the future. It's encouraging to read that those not interested became interested later.

My nephew is due in January so this is something he might play with eventually too!

I got a great deal on amazon.. if I signed up for their credit card (which I will cancel after this purchase haha)... I get $30 back .So the system and adapter came to $60. therefore I paid $30. I got buy 2 get one at toys r us.. I got dora, barney and blues clues.

I *really* wanted pooh because I"ve read such good things about it but they didnt' have it...

I'm going to watch for these great deals you've all mentioned. Maybe the day after thanksgiving~!

Glad to see this thread. My mom was going to get this for DS for Christmas (He'll be 3.5), but I kept reading mixed reviews online so I wasn't sure. I think we'll try it! He LOVES trying to play along with Dad (Football games) on the Nintendo, so I think he'll really enjoy this one! Do they usually have some sort of special/bundle around Thanksgiving or so? My mom was thinking of buying it soon, but I think maybe if she waits they'll have a special. Anyone know?

Just wanted to let you know that all three of my kids have these! My DS received one last year for Christmas, with the Toy Story, Lion King, and Mickey Mouse games. He LOVED it - but not as much as my girls, who had just turned two! I waited until their third birthday to get them theirs, and it's been one of the best gifts EVER. They have the Cinderella, Blue's Clues (which they hardly every play) and Little Mermaid games.

We love these in our house - to the point where we've had to enforce time restrictions! My kids like them MUCH better than the Leap Pad or Leapster systems. My girls didn't have the patience to use the pen. They do much better just pushing the buttons.

My 5 year old loves the vsmile. I am going to buy the new version of it for his birthday next summer. I am buying the gym class jump mat for christmas. I havent seen one in the store but toys r us has them online.

Sam's club has one for $50 with a free extra controller, so basically $15 free (the regular cost to buy an extra one).

Thanks! I wanted to get an extra controller so we can play along. Of course, DH says that we shouldn't get one that way we can't play along!

Hi,
We got one for our DD then 4, last Christmas and she loves it! We have almost every game now for the 3-5 and 4-6 age groups. We just got her the portable VSmile a couple of months ago and thats her new favorite.- she loves the Cinderella and Noddy games :) She does have the portable Leapster too that she loves, but he games are $5.00 more than the VSmile games :( I think my 5 year old would give it 2 thumbs up!! :thumbsup2

Thank you all for the positive feedback I feel much better now about her birthday gift!
I got mine on amazon.com.. I signed up for their credit card and got $30 off... I"d also gotten the adapter so it doesn't use the batter. The total wouldn't been I think $60. it was $30!!!

We bought this for my daughter about 1 1/2 years ago and she still plays with it and loves it!! Last year for Christmas we bought her the drawing board that goes with the v-smile. She is still using it. :artist:
