Anybody have a Directv DVR?

Does anyone have one of these? DH bought me one for Christmas, and we've had some problems with it. It wasn't recording shows that were set to record every day. The DVR acted like it was recording, but the light on the box was off. If I'd hit record, I got the already recording program message on the screen, but later when I'd go to watch, it wasn't on my list of recorded shows. We had many, many phone calls to Directv, and finally they ended up sending us a new box. Well, the same thing is happening again. We are wondering if we're just getting bad boxes or if this is happening to others with the service. I really like it when it works, but it ticks me off when I go to watch a show and it's not there.

I'm having similar problems. We replaced our old one - that was 5 years old and had always worked great - with a new one just recently. We took the first one we bought back to Circuit City because it was defective, and our second one isn't recording our shows. It says it's recording, it's on the scheduled list, but it doesn't. I hate it, and I'm about ready to dig my old box back out.

Very odd - we have four DirecTV DVRs (various models and recording capacity) and we are not experiencing those problems at all and never had. Does the DVR have the right time and date on it (check in the Messages & Setup / System Information screen).

Are these HD or regular satellite input.

We have 2 boxes, Ann, and both seem to work fine. There was a problem with one about a year ago, I think the hard drive failed. DirecTV replaced it, next day delivery. Hope you get it working.

Hi, Dan, thanks for the replies everyone. We have gone throught the set up twice on the phone with the Directv service reps, and the clock is fine. We thought we had a defective box, but the new one is acting up too. Any other suggestions?

I have not had such problems with mine (knock wood)
