Anybody ever try pedometer or activity tracker at Disney?

I got a Fitbit activity tracker a few months ago, and I can't wait to use it at Disney to see how far I walk, how many steps, etc, I do on a Disney day (June can't come soon enough!). Anybody ever do that?

I used a pedometer at WDW Feb 1-9 and had well over 10,000 steps everyday.

Lol! Yes! I wore a pedometer the weekend I ran the Goofy Challenge. Logged a total of 76 miles for the weekend. :lmao:

I had my Fitbit for our DLR trip a few years ago - I was hitting the 20,000+ step mark every day. We were staying at a hotel across from the parks, so that helped some.

Can't wait to see what's in store for us next month!

I've been thinking about doing it for my trip in August. I need a pedometer anyway because I really want to start walking now that's it's nicer. Any kind you guys recommend?

I haven't worn one at WDW but I have worn it while at Las Vegas and it was well over 10 miles a day and my partner loves to walk and I prefer to drive everywhere

Even though it seems like we didn't do a lot of walking, it's quite a hike from the parking lots, through a casino, to your destinations, and then back. That's why when he wants to visit something more than two casinos over I tell him we are going back to the car and will drive over as I don't want to walk back once we hit the final destination

I can only imagine the miles walked at WDW!

Hah, I have no marathon, so I think I may be a few steps short of 76 miles in a weekend!

My husband used his Fitbit last week and we averaged 10 miles a day! We thought 5-7 so we were pleasantly surprised.

I wore one for the first few days in 2012 and clocked up around 40,000 a day (good old paper fastpass and backtracking gets the credit for that :rotfl:). I took some photos of them with my old phone when we got back to the room. Camera was terrible but I think I still have the files. If I can dig them out I'll post them.

A friend I went with tracked her steps during SWW last year. She also clocked in over 10,000/day.

I do hit 10,000 steps, or a tiny bit more, on occasion on a regular day at home (usually a weekend when my wife is dragging me while she shops!), so I would think I will have at least 20,000/day at Disney. I will post when we get back (we are going late June).

I have the Fitbit Force and I love it. I am competitive, so keeping track of the steps and all makes me walk more.

That's a great point - this trip I have in June will be our first without the old Fastpasses (I was the designated runner for that). I guess my totals will be less than they would have been in the past. I doubt I will hit 40,000, but, hey, who knows!

I had a fitbit flex on our last trip and that was about my average (20,000 steps per day and we're not commando park goers by any stretch of the imagination). During the week, I hit about 8000 and over 10,000 each day on the weekends.

I have a Flex, and on a normal day at home, can hit 10,000 steps on days that I manage to squeeze in a visit to the gym over lunch (otherwise I'm sitting on my butt at my desk for 10-12 hours a day).

During our last visit to WDW in February, I ended up averaging about 25,000 steps per day - and I certainly didn't feel like we were running around in circles in the parks - those steps just came from normal strolling around from ride to ride and through attractions, mostly in a logical clockwise/counterclockwise direction.

Well if my fitness levels drop or my legs don't look great by the end of this next trip I'm blaming FP+ and writing to Disney :rotfl: Seriously though, I have already wondered if we will do less mileage. We used to think nothing of spending a full day in Epcot and backtracking to and from WS to go back for FP's and return times for TT.

I used the pedometer app that came with my S4. No joke, I averaged 20-22000 steps a day.

A while back I wore a pedometer for a couple of trips. I got readings between a low of 3 miles a day to a high of 7 miles per day. You have to remember to turn it off while on rides as it picks up the motion as steps quite often.
