Anybody ever have gallbladder issues?

Another GB person here. I have weird insurance so I had to wait. I've decided to keep my diet changes. I'm going for a scan on Monday and then assuming everything is ok, surgery should be sometime that week.

Chell - I remember when you had yours out - so glad you're doing well a year after surgery. I remember when you were having pain, and now I hope that you are ok!

Yes, I am so much better now. Again, thanks for all your help on this subject!!!

I'm back from my ultrasound. Because it was abdominal, I got to see lots of organs. Missed a few too because the tech made me lay on my left side facing away from the machine. It wasn't too bad, just not as much fun as a day at EPCOT.

Mostly it was just take a deep breath and hold it while the wand thingy was dragged around my stomach area. Lots of pushing too. The only area she concentrated on was the mid right stomach. Everything else just seemed to get a quick pass.

The tech was pretty tight lipped and really wouldn't tell me anything. At one point I could see two well defined white oval shapes in the GB. If they were stones, they were big!

I won't know anything for sure until some time next week. :guilty:

It is pretty cool getting to watch and see what is inside of you. I hope you don't have to wait too much longer to get some answers.

Any word yet Virgo? I'm going tomorrow morning for mine.

Nothing yet. I really don't expect to hear anything until Wednesday at the earliest. The tech said it takes two to three business days for the doctor to get the results. I'm assuming the place I had it done has people there that read those things.

I'm still on my chicken, rice, jello, potato, etc, etc diet. I'm tired most of the time but I'm blaming that on lack of calories. Haven't weighed myself in at least a week and I won't be surprised if I've dropped a few more pounds.

I'll just be happy when this is over and I can eat again without being afraid of that pain returning.

Oh yeah. Had ONE gallbladder attack - very, very severe - and they took the thing out. "Enough stones to make a necklace" was how the doctor put it.

It was so inflamed, it was ready to burst. I was sicker than sick - throwing up and all the rest of the disgusting things - and I was wishing for death. Take care of it right NOW. :)

Please make sure that you all follow up on this as the symptoms you are describing can be symptomatic of other illnesses.....

I had these symptoms, had my gallbladder out and the following week was back in the hospital for the same pain.. turned out it was not gallbladder, but GERD and the pain was excruciating and in the middle of my chest... like a heart attack.. very scary.

My husband had these symptoms that you are talking about and his turned out to be pancreas related.. so please do stay on top of it.. :)

I had my gallbladder out 10 years ago on my 25th birthday

If it's working at 20%, does that mean it's not producing bile or it's not releasing bile?

Either way, I would stay away from fatty food since bile breaks down fat.

Good luck and keep us posted!!!! :wizard:

I can't see the surgeon until the 15th.
Virgo, how are you?

I'm doing pretty good as long as I only eat no fat food. And that is all I've been eating for the past 5 weeks or so.

Don't know if you saw my other post about my unbelievable day yesterday but I did find out that I have gall stones and that I'll be having my GB out some time soon. I have to wait for insurance to approve a visit to the surgeon and we'll take it from there. I hoping that this will all be over before Christmas.

We need to keep this thread bumped up so we all can support each other during our pre op and post op times.

Hopefully your insurance will pass it quickly and you can get it all taken care of very soon.

I'm still waiting to see a surgeon. I was told it could take up to 3 weeks to even get approval. :( The good news is that I'm mostly pain free. The bad news is there is so little I can eat. Once I get this taken care of I don't ever want to see rice, chicken or jello as long as I live! :furious: :p

I finally got to see the surgeon yesterday. Its scheduled for December 12th. Not sure my boss was pleased but what the heck. So I'm out for WDW starting next Friday, back in the office for a week, out for 2 (hopefully) and then have a week's vacation scheduled! :cool1:
Not looking forward to surgery but if it gets rid of the pain then I'm good.

Hope everything is going well with everyone else. :grouphug:
