Anybody else starting a diet today?

Thirty days later and 20 pounds lighter. I had knee surgery in Janaury and found out I will have to have major knee surgery in June, (after Marshalling the Houston Open in March, WDW in May and Project Graduation in May) To make it easier on recovery and because my time in life to loose the weight has come I have set a goal of (believe it or not) 70 pounds. Yeah you read that right 70 pounds. I played football in HS, one year of college and lacrosse the rest of college and while I managed to stay in shape for a lot of years afterwards, but once the knees went and the activity decreased I put on the pounds. Although I carry it well from years of having done so as my age increases so do the pains. I've got a good start but a long way to go. The way I feel since dropping the pounds has me motivated to make it the rest of the way.

Caffeine in coffee causes unstable blood sugar levels. After drinking or eating something with caffeine many people have a hypoglycemic reaction. Their blood sugar level temporarily drops, triggering cravings for sugary foods or carbs. I can't completely give up my coffee, so I went to half-caf. Since I'm on a low carb diet, I get to have mine with real cream ;).

did 2nd work out for today. I wasnt going to do it but made myself do it and I am happy about it.

DD12 has weightlifting at 6:30am, I drop her off get home to my work out.

I have half cafe too... I can't tell the difference.

I had a hard time finding this thread because we let it go!

How is everyone doing? I let the diet slip because of a few stressful things going on, but I'm still eating better than normal -- just trying to be aware of what I'm putting in my mouth.

Our biggest problem is eating out.

Still doing okay over here. I don't think I've lost any weight necessarily, but I only wanted to lose 5 lbs. I'm more concerned with just being toned and in shape. I've been working out for 2 weeks now, I do it 5 days out of the week. I feel like I'm getting stronger and I feel great after I work out!:thumbsup2

I'm not dieting, just trying to choose better so that I can go out to eat and enjoy it without feeling like a pig. For example, my sister in law's birthday is this weekend and if I want I'll have a SMALL piece of cake. I don't have it any other day of the week so I think it's okay. We need to treat ourselves once in awhile.

My hubby has started working out and watching what he's eating too! He does 8 miles on our elliptical every day plus weights and our ab lounger. He is starting to notice some changes and I can tell he feels GREAT! I'm so proud of him.:cloud9:

Keep up the good work, people!!

Shelby

Still going strong!!! No sodas, chips, sweets or anything bad since I started two weeks ago. AND, the headaches have gone away too!!!:thumbsup2
I am also drinking a ton of water (I still can't stand the stuff though)
My next step is starting to do more excercising. Probably on next Monday I will start my daily walks again. Followed by working out at home as well. I have also begun drinking my daily doses of fiber as well.

Keep at it, and we will try to encourage each other on.!

Hey, hey we are all doin' it!!! I was about to hit the treadmill when I saw your post (very easily distracted/willing to delay the exercise!LOL) But I DO feel better and noticed I'm sleeping better too, already! Making better food choices does really help (as another poster said) and REALLY trying no to hang out in my pantry otherwise known as our snack shop!!!! Noticed a few lbs off but its really committing to the daily stick-to-it-ivness that I NEED! We are in the single digit days before we head down to AKL; so I'll get plenty of walking in then; but dining plan is what I'm worried about!!!!!!

Well, my diet is on hiatus for a bit. Since Feb. 26th I've lost 6 lbs. We leave for spring break today and with all the walking we're going to do, I'm hoping to eat a lot!

Good Morning All - How's it going?? Are we on week #3 already???
Exercising almost everyday and starting today back to 1 snack/treat per day!!

Congrats!!!!
Let's keep encouraging one another. I am still sticking to my diet, and today I will start cranking up my excercising quite a bit. I am now pretty well past the dependency on the soda and snacks (occasionaly I still get a strong urge, but it's a lot easier to resist it now), plus, I've got myself on a great water drikning schedule. I am also adding a lot more fiber to my diet as well.

Thanks for sending this post back to the front, where hopefully others will chime in about how they are doing as well.

Hello where/how is everyone that's posted or is new to our "mission"???? I've got to start packing today!!! AFTER the treadmill, although its nice here today, maybe I'll hit the sidewalk for a change of scenery! We all want to know what you've been doing (or not been doing ?) and catch up for week #3 as The Goofster (starter of this "mission") said we can co-miserate together!!!! But in a positive way (for the optimists)!!!!!! :grouphug:

I had a bit of a set-back. I went to my niece's Bat Mitzvah and the parents of the kid usually provides dinner for Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday brunch (left overs from the previous 2 days). As the food is generally kosher it's also generally carb-y. The only protein is canned tuna (blech) and lox (ok, but not my favorite). At least this is true in my DH's family. That's all fine and good unless you are eating low-carb and then you're sunk. In the past I have worried about the menus and gone hungry. I just couldn't face it this weekend and so I ate pasta, bagels, etc. I feel yucky and bloated today as I sip my half-caf.

I ordered 3 DVDs, a Walk Away The Pounds DVD and a Pilates and Balance Ball DVD by the same trainer (Leslie Somebody). I plan on doing the 2-mile walk three times a week and a toning DVD twice a week. I hope to have better news to report next week!

I had a bit of a set back to... it's called Girl Scout cookies. :rolleyes1 But I am back on track today. Already excercised and have my lunch and dinner already planned out.

Had a great week. The weather is nicer so I started walking a bit. Eating out is a little bit of a problem but I still managed to lose weight. Hoping for a great week 3.
