I recently had a ressie for next week for 8/29-9/5 in a studio at VWL consisting of 71 transferred points I bought from another DVC member and 30 points of our own. DW decided she really wanted a 1BR for this long of a stay, but without the points, we decided to book the first three nights in a studio with the balance in a 1 bedroom while paying for Saturday and Sunday in cash. We called MS and as soon as she released our old reservation, the 71 points we had transferred into our account disappeared from the system completely.

Seems MS reservations systems has some sort of computer glitch that, according to the CM we spoke to at MS, is causing points to vanish for some DVC members. The CM was able to rebook the studio for the first three nights and the cash rooms, but the last two rooms are on hold in our name until our points reappear.

Needless to say, this whole thing has me nervous, especially since it is apparently taking a week for IT to re-establish points after similar snafus and we check-in in a week. I'm sure MS will make it right, but it sounds like they are in dire need of some good computer programmers.

Did you mention this very thing to MS? If so, perhaps you won't get the points back because you violated the POS. No money or compensation is to be paid for any transfer.

Now, I don't think that this is what happened, and I suspect things will work out for you, but it is POSSIBLE that it won't get straightened out if they decide to enforce the contract you signed.

Yes, I would say that is a remote possibility and I would hazard a guess that MS has very rarely revoked points in such instances. Why upset the DVC members when limiting transfers to 1 per use year can curtail those who would attempt to do this as a side-line money making business? If the practice of revoking points is common, then I would suggest the DIS shut down the rent/trade boards, or at least the "trade" part of it.

In this case, the conversation went something like (paraphrasing) "DW: I would like to change my reservation to 3 nights in a studio and 4 nights in a one bedroom with two nights paid in cash. CM: Ok, let me cancel your previous reservation and re-book. Oops, you don't have enough points. DW: Obviously I did or I would not have been able to make my original reservation. CM: 71 of your points are now gone and I can't seem to locate them. This has been happening to some DVC members and I will have to have IT look at it. Let me call you in the morning when I have it spoken to IT."

After the call back this morning we have the first five nights and the last two are pending with a hold put on the room for us. Frankly, I am more concerned that transfer points disappeared from my account, and apparently the accounts of other users according to the MS CM. I was just wondering if anyone on here had that happen to them and if this is somehow indicative of a problem with the MS booking system in regards to transfer points. Obviously, something went wrong.

My points didn't disappear, but I had called yesterday to doublecheck on my reservation that they did add the Dining Plan, and the rep said it was on their and the total cost for that will be $XXX at check-in. Unfortunately, the total was about $700 more than it should have been. I told her that sounded like a wrong number to me so she checked in the computer. Somehow, in addition to me, my DH and my 2 kids, the computer showed an additional 2 juniors (charged as adults of course). The funny thing is that this was a studio, which shouldn't have that high of an occupancy.:confused3

Too bad the error didn't go so far as to upgrade you to a 1BR at no additional point cost! :thumbsup2 Seriously though, were the 2 Juniors added as additional people in your room or just to the DDP (assuming these can be separated)? Did these people have names?

These two people were actually on the ressie, but didn't have names.

Hmmm, makes me wonder if the booking system has checks for overbooking a room (I can't imagine it doesn't) or if the CM has the power to override room limits.

According to the CSM fixing my ressie, she said that they can override the occupancy settings for things such as adding a child under 3, but that its hard to get the computers to take that "5th" person (under 3) because the occupancy is supposed to be 4. She thought it was both incredibly funny and weird that our ressie had 6 people in a studio.

I did have 101 points disappear a few months ago. I posted a Thread for owners to keep a watch on their accounts. MS had the IT department fix my account and it did take 5-7 days. I checked it every day until it posted back. I didn't realize that is was transferred points that disappeared. I feel your frustration. Hope it all works out!

I am fairly confident that everything will work out fine, but it does seem the MS booking system has some sort of significant flaw. Were your points also transferred?

I had received a point transfer into my account. MS did not actually tell me that my transferred points were the ones that were missing, the MS CM went over my confirmations, while I was on the phone and saw that what I was saying to be true. At first she thought I was making a mistake. It all worked out, I am glad that I caught the mistake.

In my case this was fairly easy to see as it was the exact number of transferred points that were missing.
