Anybody else foolishly starting a diet before they get to DW?

I was inspired to join WW last year before going to DL with my mom. I lost 20 before the trip and 10 more after!

Anything that gets us up off our flabby butts and makes us eat healthier is a good thing, even if we wind up indulging once we get to WDW!

Yes me too. I'm joining the crowd. I started in January not a new year's resolution but the timing just coincided. Then I got sick for several weeks and gained back all I had lost b/c I needed comfort food (sorry salad just doesn't cut it when you're sick).

I would LOVE to lose 20 lbs before our trip April 25, but have 40 in total to lose. I've lost 5 and I'm doing good with the eating but not so much with the excercising. I know it's important to start walking now and we did go on a big family walk last weekend to start preparing.

I've always found I've been on a diet or watching my food intake (I was pregnant one trip) while in the World. I don't really deny myself anything but I do try to take some healthier options than fries with every meal. I think the healthy options are great. I just try not to go over board especially at the all you can eat buffets. I certainly don't get my moneies worth there but that's okay. It's Disney.

I joined WW online in December. I lost 15 lbs before our Disney trip mid February, and gained about a pound while on vacation, eating what I wanted. I found that I couldn't eat a LOT though, and tried to make mostly smart choices. Lost the gain immediately once I was back home and on program.

Gonna keep going and see if I can lose another 7-10.

I joined Curves at the end of December. I've actually gained 3 lbs!!! Could it be muscle??? (That's what I'm telling myself...) I haven't changed my eating habits, so I think that I WILL diet for the next 3 weeks before our Spring Break trip. I also like to be down a couple pounds for that FIRST donning of the shorts and bathing suit. But if all else fails, I'll just don my bathing suit, then put on a cover-up and sit by the pool and drink pina coladas. :sunny:

Actually sometimes you do gain weight when first starting a diet. It's one of the things that discourages and frustrated ppl so they stop. Don't stop keep going and you'll eventually see it start to come off.

I always drink more water when I'm at Disney and all that walking I hope to maintain or go up only a pound or two. (crossing my fingers anyway)

Hi Buckeye, I too gained 3 pounds after exercising 6 out of 7 days for 3 weeks. That was a BIG bummer but I truly think it is muscle and possible water weight. I'm going to keep going and NOT weigh myself for awhile so I don't get discouraged. By the way, I used to live in Marion (about an hour north of Columbus) and we used to collect buckeyes every year when they fell from the trees.

I am using the treadmill so I will be up to doing at least 10 miles a day for my trip in September. ;)

Nope! I don't think it's foolish at all. In fact, I did this about two trips ago and found that I ate healthier the entire trip and I lost another 5 pounds from all of the walking. I felt great by the time we got home!! :flower:

Add me to the list of dieters! I've got 16 months to get pool and beach ready! Hubby and I started Feb. 28. I've lost 5.5 pounds so far!

Good luck to everyone!

Mermaidwannabe,
Well, glad to hear I'm not alone in GAINING when I thought I'd be losing. I think I'm not going to weigh in for a while too. The truth is that I really don't care what I weigh---it's how my clothes fit that is important to me.

I'm very familiar with Marion. My parents live outside Columbus and we're big buckeye fans---both of the nuts and the team!

Yep, I was ill this week so lost 4lbs instantly (good things come in the oddest ways.) I would still like to lose 9lbs, am also goign swimming, dont want to be huffing and puffing around WDW after my family.

I just got back and I ate at really good restaurants and lost 6 pounds when I got home. I believe the walking was the key!! And lots of water. My average day for the 10 days I was there was...Oatmeal at Roaring Forks every morning and juice--coffee on the go lunch was a giant salad from wherever and a nice meal at night and maybe a Mickey bar in between and some Popcorn--And Water no soft drinks at all! 6 pounds down!

I'm there with ya!! I'm trying to lose 24 pounds before our trip in May - I have lost 8 pounds since Jan 27 :flower: I realy want to feel better and look better - also I plan to enjoy myself while we are at WDW but I know I won't go over board cause DH and I are going to Jamaica in July for our 15th anniversary!!!! So I have motivation to get it off and keep it off after we get back from Disney too :flower: Plus I think getting all the exercise in really helps with all the walking at WDW - I plan to wear my pedometer in May to see how far we walk - also I am getting the kids in gear by walking some everyday before we go too :)

I'm trying to lose like 10 pounds before my May trip. I've been taking a swimming/aerobics class (laps, weights, etc.) and been trying to walk a mile or two on days when I don't have class. I'm also going to start to try to drink a gallon of water each day.
