A little pricey, but amazing nonetheless. I wish I had that much money. I'd be a rich boy. :earsboy: :earsboy:

I have an annual pass so I have been in many seasons. My favorite is around Easter - the house is beautiful with fresh flowers throughout. Try not to go on a day that is busy - like the Easter egg hunt. I like to go on a weekday. If the doors to the verandah are open you can sit in large wicker chairs with green adnwhite striped cushions and look out over the mountains. Also -take some bread and head for the bass ond - you can feed the ducks and some really big fish. There's a nice little gazebo down there that no one seems to visit and I often wish I would have brought a picnic lunch along.

Antonia-

I don't remember the gazebo by the bass pond. Where is it? We've been all the way around the pond.........

We have the Biltmore Hotel,in Coral Gables, does that count? ;) It was a hotel, than a Veterans Hosp, and now they rebuilt it back into a Hotel. I remember going there when it was a Veterans Hosp. My Brother had come back from Vietnam in 1969 with Shrapnel in his leg, and had to have surgery. I remember pushing him around in the wheel chair, and almost pushing him inside the Pool!:p

The bass pond with the gazebo: once you leave the main house drive adn exit the big gate, you're going down a wooded driveway, well, the bass pond is on the right down in a hole - well , how else can I describe it? You have to park on the shoulder of the road and go down some steps and there is a pond witha gazebo. It is not visited by many guests, therefore it is a peaceful place with a nice gazebo right on the pond - which is why I always wish I had brought my own little picnic.

Besides all the fine books and art work that has been mentioned, Napoleon's chess set is there, too.

Spring time there is gorgeous.....tulips of all colors nearly as far as the eye can see. Surrounding forests have all sorts of beautiful trees in bloom. But......

My favorite trip was the Candlelight Tour during Christmas. Dined on property (very expensive!), did a little wine tasting......don't know diddly 'bout wine, but just had to have a bottle of their White Christmas Wine. The tour itself could have been great. Wouldn't you know it.......we had the good fortune to get behind a huge group of senior citizens who arrived together on a bus. They were in no hurry and I had plenty of time to count threads in the sheets as we went from room to room. Was sooo crowded you couldn't get away from them. We tried! Still was amazingly beautiful! I urge anyone who can to definitely visit. :sunny:

I have been there twice and highly recommend a visit. The spring flowers are amazing. Also, recommend a stay at the Grove Park Inn. I loved it.

It is beautiful! I haven't been in years, but I think I'm going to go again soon.

Next time any DISers decide to go stop by and see me on your way!

It sounds like a beautiful place.

I drove right by your place last summer. If I had known you were there I would have stopped.:p
Very beautiful country where you are. ::yes::

Glad to see this thread! Looking into the cabins & Grove Park Inn. Are there any other recommendations for places to stay?
