any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

We just returned from our first cruise with the baby (Carnival Glory 8/6/05) and we had such a good time we want to cruise again this December after our DVC-WDW trip. Initially we were priced out of this cruise since I began checking so late -- I could not believe how expensive it was -- so we booked a RCCL cruise. But then DU had one group space open up at a great price so I placed a deposit right away! DH and I have always wanted to try a DCL cruise but we never did -- previous cruises on RCCL and Carnival only -- because DCL was always much more expensive for a similar size cabin/itinerary. We are just giddy with joy with this booking! :Pinkbounc

The only blah point right now is the fact that we have late seating. :( DS will be 20 months this December; he is well behaved and loved the formal dining experience on our recent Glory cruise -- we ate as a family in the dining room all 7 nights as well as a few breakfasts and lunches. DS gets his bath around 7 to 7:15 pm and he sleeps by 7:45 pm and we want to eat together, so if we cannot be switched to early seating it means we will miss out on the rotational dining experience. Right now I can only keep my fingers crossed that we'll come off the waitlist, though I'm not optimistic given how late we booked. There is a part of me that is very hesitant to pay the balance when due because of the uncertainty of the dining time situation; but DH is willing to chance it and just go alternative dining each night.

Scotch,
All is not lost with late dining.
When you get into your room, check your dining tickets, if it is still late dining, check your Navigator ( Newspaper) in your room. It will list a time and place to report for dining changes. Usually it is in one of the clubs. Try to get there as soon as they allow it. You will sit down with a dining crew member with a computer who will try and change you right on the spot. We have had good luck with this. It is no guarantee, but it is another chance to change after your on board.
Sometimes people cancel at the last minute or the ship isnt 100% booked so there are a few openings at the last minute. If you cant get changed, go to guest services and explain your situation and ask them if there is anyway to have your dinner sent to your room so you can at least have your deluxe meals. They did offer to do that for us once a couple of years ago, however by the second night we were switched to early dining.
Good luck, I hope it works for you.

mom x4,grandma x4, thanks so much for the encouragement! I can definitely use it.

Our TA just sent along notice that our cabins have been assigned. We are in connecting rooms 2075 & 2077.
When I booked we were a Cat.10 GTY and our TA told me there was no guarantee we would even be on the same deck. So I am happy, would of been happier with an upgrade, but I will take this!

This make it seem real now that we have cabins, oh how I wish for the fall to go by quickly!!

Laura

Laura,

I can't believe your cabins are assigned already.

That is great your cabins are right beside each other and midship too! You are just down a few cabins from us!! We are in 2108.

Welcome Scotch! That is great you were able to get group space on this cruise. The price has now doubled what we paid. Unfortunately, another one of my sisters and her family want to come too, but they are priced out of this cruise too. I emailed DU to see if they would put her on a wait list if they had another cancellation and they said they could not.

This is the reply I received:

"We have sold out of all of our group space for this sailing.

In addition, Disney Cruise Line has closed this group for future bookings. This means that even if we have a cancellation we cannot book any more staterooms into the group on this sailing."

Welcome Scotch! Glad to see you joining our group. I have added you to our cruise list (cruise list = an Excel spreadsheet of the DIS members on this cruise, DISname, first name, where from, kids ages, special occasions, dining time) based on the information I got from your post. If you would PM me your email address I would be happy to send you out a copy.

How is everyone doing? 17 weeks from today we will be on an airplane on our way to Florida    ! I have not done anything for excursions except book Native Way in Grand Cayman for thier Rays, Reef and Rum Point tour. I do need to get an envelope off to Shirly at Perfect Gifts so she can fill it up with Key West info for us to go over. I have not done anything about Cozumel - may just explore town and/or go to a beach.

Well, everyone have a nice weekend!

Scotch -
Welcome!

And wow - 17 weeks til we go!!! Yippee! My kids started school on Monday so we've been busy this week ~ it just flew by. I meant for us to get passports done today but forgot, so it will have to be one day next week. Maybe Monday - I can't wait too much longer.

Hi everyone,

I just read a thread where a group of Disers were able to link their reservations for dining and they were all put on the same rotation and their tables were in the same area of the dining rooms. I wrote down the number and ladies' name to call about doing this.

Right now we have early seating and I requested APLA rotation. (Lumiere's for formal night!) Is anyone interested in linking? If you are on a waitlist for early seating, this may be a good way to try and get early.

If you are interested in doing this, cut and paste the list below and add your name:

OMG Colleen this would be great if you can do this! We are on the waitlist for early and also requested the APL rotation, I don't know if we would be lucky enough to get both. I have added our info below.

Thanks so much!!

Howdy everyone,
Well our company has gone back to Oregon today, so now it's time to get into some serious cruise planning for me. I have door signs to make for all the rooms and Pirate costumes for DH and myself, as well as gettin all my Christmas shopping done early. Since most of our family will be on this cruise with us,, they will be staying for the holidays before flying back home. So I have lots to do.
We are less than 4 months now!
How are all of you doing for your Pirates costumes? I'm having a hard time making up my mind on things. There is so much out there to choose from.
We were at Epcot last week and at Mouse Gears they had a pirate section of souvenirs that included a necklace made from the medallion from The Pirates of the Carribbean movie. pirate: It was pretty neat looking, so I'm thinking about getting that to wear too. Only $10 I believe.
Well I've lots to do, hope your all getting as excited as we are! :cheer2:

OMG is right, princessmomma! I hope we could do this! We are waitlisted for early seating right not and I've been really bummed at the possibility that we will not get switched and we'll have to eat our meals elsewhere during the whole cruise to accommodate DS's schedule! I am adding to the list below. Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks for getting this started!

Do you know which day Pirate's Night will be held? I think I read that it is a theme night during the dinner rotation and there is a deck party later that evening? So when do folks dress up? Starting with dinner or only during the deck party?

Laura and Amy,

Well, I will give it my best shot. I have the Dining Coordinator's name, number and fax number, so I will give people a few weeks to sign up and I will give her a call and see what she can do.

I will need your confirmation numbers and last name of the lead person on your reservation, so you can PM me that anytime.

We will see what happens. :wizard:

Just want to make sure I have this correct, the 105 day window will open at 3:01am EST on Saturday September 3rd, right?

Scotch,
I'm not sure which night the pirate party is, but you dress up at dinner and stay that way until the end of the deck party. People will be walking around all evening dressed up, it's really fun to walk around and check each other out. Your wait staff will be dressed as pirates too.

Hi Sandra,
I was just re-reading some older posts to remind me who all was going on this cruise and If I read one item you wrote correctly, you stated your anniversary was 12/12? Is that correct? The reason I ask is that is my anniversary also! That would be a weird coincidence if we had the same anniversary, but I'm sure the year will be quit different as we are going to have 32 anniversary this december. Well just curious, let me know.

Can you take a picture or scan what your door sign looks like? And how did you make it? I want to do one for us. I looked through the thread with door signs but was overwhelmed!

:confused3

But on the other hand, I can say "In 17 weeks I'll be at ..... " The kids and I were talking about it on the way to school this morning, and I know we're in Key West on Sunday and Castaway Cay on Friday, but I haven't even looked for what day we'll be at Grand Cayman or Cozumel. Guess I should, eh?

DS#1 (9 y.o.) stated that he didn't want to go into any of the ports. When I asked him why, he said because he was afraid we would be late getting back and get left. I assured him that they would tell us what time we had to be back and that Dad and I didn't want to get left either since we've spent so much $$ of this cruise. I also told him that they give us a Navigator each day so we know what there is to do.

Then DS#2 (almost 8 y.o.) started wondering what he could do if he got bored on the ship. I assured him that there was plenty to do and that he wouldn't be bored. And if he was bored, he could always go swimming.

Good thing we don't live far from school or they would've come up with a bazillion more "worry" questions.
