any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

Hi Cali disneygirl:

Welcome to our cruise. I have a seven year old daughter and a nine year old daughter if your girl is interested in emailing them so that they can know each other a bit before the cruise. They are emailing a couple other girls as well. I am really hoping all the kids have fun. I am sure they will though.

Hi Cali Disneygirl! We will be on this cruise. My DD is 11, Pittcrew has a DD that is 11, and Khakismum has a DD 12, so your DD will be in good company!

Hi Disney Rocks,
Thanks for the reply. I will let my girls know and hopefully they can start emailing. it would be fun for them to know someone new before the cruise. princess:

Krhardy,
I am glad to finally hear of some 11 & 12 year olds! I saw alot of boys but no girls. We are going with another family that has a 8 & 6 year old dd so my youngest has someone but my older one doesn't. I am sure all of the kids will have a blast!! i went to a disney scrapbook class last night and one of the ladies just came off of the magic and she says that she gets goosebumps just talking about it it was so wonderful!! we drilled her on anything we could think of to ask. :earsboy:

Count us among those going on the Magic 12/17/05. We're a family of four -- me (41), DH (49), DS#1 (9) and DS#2 (8). We're in a Cat. 4 and we just found out that we got switched from late dining to main dining!!!! Hooray - that's what we wanted but weren't able to get it when we booked.

DH found the 2005 Birnbaum Official Guide to DCL at a half-price book store so we bought it a few weeks ago and have read it cover to cover. No ideas yet about excursions - this is our first cruise, so heck, I'm just all about being on the ship! :sunny:

Anyway, I see this thread has been going on for months now - I'll try to skim through in the next few days to get to know you all. I was reading the DCL board a lot when we first started planning - we wanted to go in March 2005 and were originally booked, but circumstances dictated that we change to December, and man, I'm glad we did - we've saved a tremendous amount of money by going later.

nzdisneymom,
It's nice to have a few more people on our cruise. We havnt decided on excursions yet either. We have done 7 DCL cruises, but never the western so it will be all new for us too. Right now we are busy thinking about pirate costumes and door signs for our room. Are you dressing up for pirates night?
We did the pirate party on our last cruise, it was great. But it was a spur of the moment cruise so I didnt have time to get a pirate outfit for it, but this time I'm anxious to join in on the fun. I have a GS that will be 11, he will probably meet your kids in the kids club sometime. Our other GKS are 3, 6, and 14 so probably won't meet your kids. We also have the early dining, maybe we will have a table near yours. I'm sure we are all going to meet on the first day of the cruise, so we can put some faces to the names on this board. That is always a lot of fun. Looking forward to meeting all of you on board. We are a party of 15, so we'll be easy to spot.

Hello all! I have been very neglectful of you all and the list but promise to get it updated and sent out again this weekend. I see we have some new members to our group - Welcome!!!

For those that don't know - I started a list (in Excel)with our group - names, ages, children, where from, dining time, email addresses and any other special celebrations that you wnat to share with the group. I also need your email since I can't attach anything through a PM or email through the boards - and also let me know if I can put your email on the sheet to share. Just PM me the info and I will add it to the list and then send you a copy each time I update.

So, how has everyone's summer been? WAY too hot here in the northern lower part of MI. But, cool this evening so I am looking forward to open windows and fresh air for sleeping tonight. Until this past weekend, I have not been thinking too much about the cruise - but have booked a stingray excursion (not through Disney) for Grand Cayman and made car rental and limo arrangements (just need to decide which to do and cancel the other).

Stay cool everyone!

Tell me more about the Pirates Night... I don't know about any of the "special" nights on the cruise. I'm definitely all for dressin' up in costumes / themes :)

nzdisneymom,
Pirate's night has replaced the tropical night DCL use to have. Basically you are invited to dress as pirates. 3/4 of people did when we sailed in May. This is for everyone, not just the kids. You go to dinner on that night in your pirate attire, you waiters are dressed like pirates too. The menu reflects the theme also. It is great. Also you will be given a red pirate bandana to wear if you wish, or in case you didnt dress up you can still like you are a part of the crowd. They make a great free souvenir. Then later that night on deck 9 there is a pirate party. Everyone who dressed up shows up in costume. There is music, singing and pirate dancing. There is a skit with different characters in their pirate attire. I wont give away the plot, but Captain Hook is there too. At the end of the party they shoot fireworks off the ship into the night sky. It is really awesome!!!! Then as the party is winding down they have a late night buffet on deck 9 too. That is basically what pirate night is about. It starts at dinner and goes until after the buffet.
Hope you'll all join in the fun with us. I'm planning on dressing up. Everyone in our party is participating. If you have any more questions, just ask. I hope this answered your question.

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize tropical night wasn't any more - I was looking for tropical shirts for the boys - guess I'll switch to stripes and eye-patches :) I saw some "pirates" in various pictures I was looking at through the boards yesterday so that will give me some ideas.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome nzdisneymom and cali disneygirl!

My sister and her two children decided to join us on this cruise. Her daughter is 14 and son is 12. They would like to email and talk with other teens on this cruise. Does anyone have info. on these teen groups?

Sandra, my sister is flying down from Saskatoon on the 16th. I am trying to convince her to do MVMCP. Do you have your flights booked yet? My DD6 would like to email your daughters.

I also have a 8 year old son, any boys in that age group?

Kathy, thanks for the information on the pirate night. Sounds like a great time. We plan on dressing up for pirate night as well. I am hoping for some good after Halloween sales.

Glindamood, I will send you my sister's information today. Thanks for doing this.

Colleen

Princessomma,
I have a 14 year old grandaughter on this cruise. She would love to hear from a girl her age. So far it's only been boys much older than her on this thread. She did write a couple of times to try and get another teen to write her, but no responses. Her name is Ana and she has done the 7 day Eastern a couple of years ago. If your daughter want to contact her on this thread her name is "Fonzy" and her mother is "Campcoach". I know most of the teens use the PM service on this thread to communicate with each other. Ana is on vacation for another 3 weeks, but please encourage your daughter to send her a message anyway, I'm sure she will check her mail sometime while she is away from home. Ana will be here visiting WDW so I will have her check her mail from my house, if you let me know that your girl would like to do this.

Gail, when you get a chance can you email me the list again. Our computer crashed, again, so we lost pretty much everything. You can add something to ours. We found out that we definitely have the late seating for dinner. Hopefully we will be able to change that.

Thank you

Thanks Cindy and Kathy, we will try and get these kids hooked up on the first day. On our last cruise (it was the Mariner of the Seas) we set a time and place for all the kids and adults to meet. Quite a few of the teens, pre-teens and kids hit it off. The teens and pre-teens hung out all cruise and it was nice to see a familiar face when we dropped the smaller kids off in the kids club.

Has there been any talk about a meeting time and place for our group?

Howdy,
A few months back there was talk of meeting the first day in the promenade lounge, it has plenty of room and is easy to locate. Most people are free by around 3 to 3:30. We are always unpacked, kids registered and ready to meet everyone by 3, but some people may not be on until later. But then you have the deck party, and then to get ready for dinner if you have early dining. I'm sure when the time getd closer we will make some definate plans.
I'm anxious to meet all of you.

Howdy Princessmomma,
They start letting you on board from noon to 12:30. It basically is when ever the crew is done enough with the cleaning and the lunch is ready for the guests to have. You cant go to your room until 1:30, because it takes until then to get all the rooms cleaned after the last guests have left.

I've been looking at the Picture of the Day thread and saw some great pirate costumes / ideas. I haven't gotten that far in my planning yet, but have Pirate Costumes on my list of things to consider. I think I have eye patches already for the kids, and they each have a hook from WDW. Not sure what DH and I will do - I'm thinkin' lots of mardi-gras beads! And post-halloween clearance sale at Target :teeth:

DH and I went to WDW for Food and Wine Fest/Not so Scary Halloween Party a couple of years ago when Pirates of the Caribbean was first out. We decided that we definitely HAD to go as pirates and wenches. OK, I probably shouldn't give our secrets out, as we will be on this cruise too, but I will...Goodwill! We scoured goodwill for a few weeks before the cruise, and came up with fabulous and ORIGINAL costumes. We can honestly say that we didn't see any other costumes quite like ours! The women all wore 70's style peasant skirts and accessories. The men wore ripped up pants with frilly womens shirts (a challenge finding one for one of the guys!) and very embellished vests over the blouses. When I can figure out how to include a picture in a post, I'll stick one in. The point is, be creative. Make these costumes yours! You'll definitely see mine on the cruise. pirate:
