Any word what time the Magic set sail today?

I've checked the other threads, but don't think anyone said yet.

I feel so bad for those people that missed the sailing. Even getting out a day before wouldn't have helped some of them.

I haven't seen Verandah Man on the boards this weekend. I was hoping he could tell us what time she went by Two Palms. Guess we'll find out if some of the folks on the cruise get on the boards or if DD calls tomorrow.

The word was 6:30 was the sailing. They have a plan in place to bring anyone who umm.. missed the boat (sorry, bad pun) to Key West to board there.

Verandah Man has posted on the 8/21 cruise thread. His flight was cancelled today and he was driving. Good thing his cruise isn't until NEXT week.

How will people be able to board in Key West? I thought that U.S. law prohibited that--will they be granted an exception?

There is another thread about this from someone who got off today's ship (sorry, I don't know how to link to another thread) and someone mentioned that DCL must be paying the $200 per person fine.

Yep, that's probably what they're going to do. They might be able to get an exemption because of the declaraction of the Disaster Area. But, it would be better for them to simply cover the fine vs refunding/rescheduling.

Or both! I could see them paying the fine and then filing an appeal after the fact citing the disaster declaration.

Last year on the Western cruise there was trouble with a delayed flight and the Magic picked up about 60+ people down in Key West. Everyone had their luggage and formed a line to get check into the Ship as we were leaving to explore Key West.

I do not remember any reason for the delayed flight other then just your "normal-can-happen-any-day-pain-in-the-bottom" airline delays.

We left the ship yesterday - they were so good at orgainising everything. Our head server said that they were switching Key West and Castaway Cay - doing Castaway on sunday. However this was at 9am and plans were changing all the time.

Yes, I was sad to see that his flight was cancelled, but the fact that he is getting in his car this morning and beginning the long journey from New Jersey is awesome! I'm so happy that he will make his vacation! I hope that many others have backup plans.

This is actually prompting us to have backup plan in case we are 'graced' with a hurricane in two weeks. Going to AAA for a trip ticket on Monday and starting to plot our journey 'just in case.' Better to be safe than sorry and there is NO WAY we are missing our cruise!!!

Either way it is so great to see that they are doing everything possible to ensure everyone gets onboard! GO DCL!

The Magic is currently docking in Key West! I hope some of those poor people that couldn't get to Orlando can board today.

If it was August last year it might have been from the blackout. We were on the 8/16 cruise which was 2 days after the blackout and our flight down was delayed over 2 hours because they couldn't get a flight crew.

Just talked to DD. The Magic sailed yesterday at about 7:15 and docked in Key West this morning.

There are lots of passengers boarding the ship in Key West who had to make different flight arrangements because of the problems in Orlando so hopefully there won't be many who have to miss the cruise.

The weather in Key West is great although hot.

Looks like another Magical week for the Magic.
