Any word on SOG?

Forgot to mention Po-R $119.

BibbidiBobbidiBoo - sounds like you have gotten some very good rates.

We will be going during peak season - April. Maybe this is why ours have been so high:(

My 'backup' reservation is at the Dolphin - $135 + tax, military rate. We are traveling mid-March, all of the moderates were $188-210 a night. SoG told me I can't get an overflow rate through them since I have a room booked...never mind that the room may not exist in March!

From what I understand it would be the third such extension, they were originally supposed to open Sep 2003, then Dec 2003, now March 2004 - that's six months of extensions. Can't really blame the military for wanting to hold the builder to the contract. The military entered an agreement with the builder/contractor - extensions cost more money - maybe the contractor is trying to milk the job and get all the "government" money they can. I hope that is not the case and I hope that the time is being used wisely to build the best facility they can but I kind of doubt that. I only replied because I didn't think it sounded right that the "military was unwilling" - they already gave them an extra six months. Maybe unwilling to give yet another extension but I don't believe the military is at fault here, at least not all by themselves ;)

I was not bashing the military at all. In fact in my original post, I did not put "military was unwilling" in italics - that must have been done by you. I was merely quoting what the ladies at the concession tent were telling me. I agree that the government has put up with enough as far as extensions are concerned. They need to get this project completed and profitable again.::MickeyMo

sk8ingmom - I agree with you! You have to give up your reservation in order to use the overflow rate. Who knows if the resort will be open or not. We just didn't want to risk it and decided to spend the extra $ to be sure. I will kill me if they do open by March 1 (will I always doubt my decisions?). lol

For everyone - I do hope they will be ready on March 1!
