Any word on discounts this morning?

Well, here's the deal.... I tried to play it real cool when I called the most dialed number in the "407". I asked for some pricing on room only reservations for early December. I remained calm and collected when I was quoted the obscene rack rate for the Polynesian. I then asked if I could get quotes for an AAA discount... still not much better. I then inquired about room/ticket packages (i.e. UPH). Last but not least, I casually slipped the question on all our minds into the conversation: Are there any other discounts available? My tone was polite and inquisitive with a hint of "I don't know what I'm doing, please help me." Without any further suspense, this is the news we've been waiting for... The CM paused and said "Let's see... hmm the current discounts (pause) OCTOBER... the discounts for the end of the year should be out at the END OF THIS MONTH or BEGINNING of SEPTEMBER. Whether this holds true remains to be seen.

I hope this helps I got a email from disney with a rate of $109 for delx. room Code AXG Valid 8-24-03-10-01-03:)

Question about codes? I have booked through DC reservations and if codes become available will I be able to use them? I am on the Dream Maker Silver Plan.

Gee... We want to add 2 extra nights to our Nov/Dec vacation - the night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving night. Every single resort that I have checked on-line has all grades of rooms available. Gosh... if everything is so booked up and this time is traditionally supposed to be very busy, you would think that some grades of rooms at a few of the resorts would be sold out for the holiday. Has anyone ever received a discount on a room for the night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving night or is that toomuch to hope for?

I just called and the girl was very nice. She said unfortunately it is still till 8-23. She said they can't understand what the holdup is , that the rates are not out yet, but just to keep calling. She tried to be helpful and find out if I was a Florida resident, since their rates were out. All in all she was very nice , but still no AP rates! Joan

I can only imagine how many calls they get on this each day. I would think if AP's were NOT going to be coming out, they'd have said so by now, just to stop their call volume on this subject. The CMs pretty much tell people to hang in there, so the daily class continue. My guess is they have something planned that is coming up soon, or that there really was some glitch or something in their system and they are just not able to release anything yet. Just a guess, but you have to keep that glimmer of hope.

The AXG code I used is with the postcard rate. I assume  AXG is only for postcards/e-mails, but don't know. And don't know how well Disney monitors who actually rec'd postcards and who didn't. The postcard rate I received was good only 08/24-10/1 on deluxes.

The FL resident rates are out?? Where? I haven't seen them passed Oct.1 Help! I must be missing something!

I just tried the AXG code and you do have to have a pin number. Oh well, I guess we will just have to keep hoping for the AP rates. Did anyone else read the Mousesavers.com newsletter for August? Not very promising for AP discounts.

Fall rates are out now. You will need to check next month when the winter rates are posted.

Thanks, FloridaCat! I thought a poster above me meant the FL rates were out past Oct.1. :o

I'm sure you all have seen Mousesavers...but just in case, Mary Waring has offered her opinions on why she doesn't think there will probably be any AP rates offered....see Mousesavers.com.

I am still hoping that some sort of discount will become available:( I just cant accept that they arent discounting any rooms during the fall.

Mousesavers has made some very valid comments and observations. The next question that begs to be asked is how much longer before the demise of the AP. It would seem pretty difficult to sell “packages” with them still on the table.

The fact that the AP provides a substantial savings over one Day Park passes; this is a pretty good discount in itself. So any room below rack rate is a bonus. Given the fact that so many book rooms months, years in advance, where is the incentive to offer any additional room discounts. I would look in the future where anyone wishing to change existing reservations to discount rates will have to pay a “service charge” to make the transaction.

The next few weeks, months should be interesting reading on this subject and I have a personal opinion that there is a unknown factor involved here which can’t be discussed at this time.

Honestly, I think eliminating AP's would be disasterous. My AP is what keeps me returning multiple times a year to WDW. If I had to buy UPH's or even park hoppers for every trip we would most likely visit much less often. And we'd probably almost never stay longer than our DVC points allow.

But, perhaps Disney doesn't really want our several thousand dollars a year......LOL. There are plenty of other destinations we can explore.
