Any Word on Changes to AKL Concierge??

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone has the inside scoop on the rumoured changes/closure to the Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge lounge (and some rooms), especially in light of the announcement that DVC rooms will be opening some time in 2007.

I remember that there were rumblings about the lodge closing in late 2006 or early 2007 before the DVC announcement, but that CMs were not able to confirm this.

I am considering going for broke and booking a few days at the AKL concierge around Christmastime but am reluctant to do it if the lounge and/or rooms will be closed or under construction.

Does anyone have any information?

The Lodge will not be closed, but there will be construction. That's all we know for sure. When will it start? "Soon" is all I've heard.

According to pigletforever who is at AKL right now, some of the rooms are already having work done in them.

I think this is the thread that they were talking about. It is all about AKL... The thread has been ongoing for quite sometime, If you go to page 346 that is where the first mention of the DVC addition start...

1) Work has already started on some of the DVC rooms.
2) There is a little inconvenience on the Club Floor, but not too much.
3) It will be worse as things progress thru next Summer.
4) They are starting from the outside and working inward.

NOTE: It has not yet been determined what will happen to the Club Floor once the DVC rooms take over. They will "probably" be located elsewhere, but those details have not been released.

Once DVC gets in, concierge is moving to another location in the lodge. No word on where that will be. Until the move service as usual for the lounge and concierge.

We will be at AKL concierge in March and am keeping my ears open for info.
