I am heading up to run my first Boston Marathon and I was looking for someone to possibly hang with at Hopkinton. I will be in the first wave and my bib number is 7246. I was hoping some other disney nut was going to be there to shoot the "I love Disney" bull. And since I am a wishing man, I wish that someone is trying for a sub 3:10 and is willing to keep my company up the Newton Hills.

Dave

Hi Dave I will be there, bib 204.
I'm sure that you will see me on the hills!!!!! Just look for my name.....Syko.

Hi all-
I will be a medical volunteer at the finish so I hope to see none of you:love:

Oh my word, good luck to you both. I ran it last year (international so didn't have to do your crazy qualifying times!). Enjoy the hills! One of my strongest memories is running past a diary queen and thinking what good value their sundaes were!!!! I got a little desperate for distractions after seeing a wonderful WISHer cheering at about mile 3.

Hope you're training goes smoothly and syko hope you figured out where to stay!

And Dave- thanks- for everyone who won't be able to actually say it after the run. A lovely volunteer kept me company whilst waiting for a friend to finish- i was sat on the floor sharing the chocolate from my goodie bag with him. He was cross i had sat down... can't win them all!

I'll be running on Monday. I plan to get to the Athlete's Village by 8 AM. I'm in the second wave #20885 so I'll have plenty of time to hang around. I'll be wearing my yellow WISH visor.

Dave, sorry I can't help you out with the 3:10.

Syko, do you have a special area you get to hang out in pre-race, or will you be in the AV with the rest of us?

Early forecast 50's and partly cloudy. Sounds good to me!!

Good luck to you all.
Cindy

Cindy We have our own AV right next to the start line!!!!:woohoo:

Our bus leaves at 5am, and the bus for our familys that want to watch leaves at 8am. I wish I could get on the later one!

Kate I am staying with the Freedom Team, eventhough I am not apart of the team. We are staying somewhere at the harbour.

I'm going to hit the expo on friday....anyone else?

I will not know until thursday if I will be racing, I am leaving tonight to drive to Maine to see if they can get it working, I've had it since the 12th feb and its never work correctly.:sad2:

Good luck syko, Dave Cindy and stampinggoddess' dh! Have a great race!

groovygirls - I hoe you see very little action. ;) So great of you to volunteer!

Boy, the nerves are starting to set in. I've been dealing with some shin splint issues, and the doubt monster is knocking on the door. Don't worry, I'm not answering.

Syko, I have a friend who is also pushing at Boston. It will be his 18th Boston Marathon in a wheelchair. He won the Quad division last year, but has been having some training issues this year. In fact, he claims that he is the only known person to complete the Boston Marathon running and in a wheelchair. His name is Mike Savicki and his number is W24. Super, super great guy and tremendous athlete.

I'm also planning on being at the expo Friday afternoon. Me, my wife, Mike and his wife are doing a duck tour Friday morning then heading to the expo.

So excited!!!:banana::cool1:

Dave, I hear you about the Doubt Monster. Ignore him, trust in your training and a little race day magic.

Syko, Wow 5 AM is sooo early. I guess you won't have to worry about the bus getting stuck in traffic at that hour. It is nice that you can hang out right near the starting line. Lots of luck.

I plan on going to the Expo on Friday afternoon as well. I'll have to include some WISH green so you can spot me.

Cindy

random piece of advice- make sure you use the bathroom before getting on the bus! There's no real traffic on the roads at that time, but we stopped for about 30-45mins as we got within a few miles of the athlete's village due to the sheer volume of busses. A lot of people had to get off the bus to use the bushes! Maybe that will be sorted this year.

I still do not know if I am going, they did not bother to get me fixed in Maine.:sad2:
My Dh is working on it, and I need to take it around the hotrel parking lot to see if it's enough to roll.

I met Cindy at the expo.:woohoo:

The expo was great, a lot more civilised that Disney's.:rolleyes1

Dave, your friend is not the only one!!!! I know a lady who used to run Boston and is now a pusher.

Good Luck Everyone.

Best of luck with the chair Syko. I hope DH can work his magic. It was nice to meet you. I loved the expo, managed to find lots of things to buy and tons of freebies as well.

Have a great race tomorrow WISHers!!! Let us know how you do!
