Any WDW vets going to DL?

Just wondering as a WDW lover how many WDW vacationers are going to take advantage of the lower points for DL hotels? I am seriously looking into the GC for 2006 and have never been to DL.

We're going to stay at the DLH for 2 nights in early March. It's still a lot of points compared to one of the DVC resorts, but we're doing it anyway, LOL. It will be the first (and probably the last) time we use points for something other than a DVC resort.

I've been to DL only once before - in 1975. Guess I'll have to hang out at the DL (California) Forum for the next couple of months. I'm quite sure things have changed over the last 20 years!

I say you go for it! DL is a great place to visit, and you should visit it at least once.

If you need any advice, I'll be happy to help any way I can, and there's a wealth of info to be found on the DL boards too!

We grew up going to DL and have family in CA, so go whenever we can! It'll always have special meaning for us. Gogogogogogo! If you have any questions - the DL board is great - and I'm kinda nutty with info myself!

We've planned a trip out west for June 06. Plan on making use of the lower points for DL resorts, but aren't going just because of that. We decided to take this trip long before the reduced points were announced. Our DS5 isn't sure he wants to go though - he thinks he's getting cheated with just two parks. He's just not sure it will be very good!!! We're trying to reassure him it'll be fine! We're also going to the Grand Canyon on this trip - he'll probably be looking for the BTM train there!

I highly recommend the GC, as it is the resort which is most like the WDW resorts. It's the only one Disney built. The other two were taken over by Disney and lightly remodeled, though still very nice hotels. I live in Southern California, so I am at DL pretty regularly. We save our points for WDW trips. We did use points at the GC a few years ago when we had some extra points we needed to use up. It's a great resort.

We're headed to the San Diego marathon in June to be followed by three nights at DL. We're still deciding on using points or cash.

Being West Coasters we cut our Disney Teeth @ DL. Since becoming DVC members we have been flying to WDW (long trips of at least a week at a time). Since DVC lowered points to DL and we can go for weekends we have been taking advantage. DD and I stayed @ the DLH last month on points. We really liked the grounds, pool and close proximity to the Parks. However, DD kept saying next time she wants to stay at the GCH. So, in a couple of weeks we are staying @ the GCH on points. We are excited! Always wanted to stay there but would never PAY the price!

We have decided since we now live in Hawaii to visit Disneyland and stay at GC concierge for 6 nights. We are also visiting WDW again in Dec 2006 get that Disney fix.
