Any way to save money on Annual Pass? (First DL trip in 20 years.)

Most of my family lives in the Anaheim area, so I grew going to Disneyland and Knott's every year when visiting, but I haven't been to either in over twenty years.

After telling our daughter we'd take her to Disneyland this week (Thursday and Friday), I was rather surprised to find ticket prices were so much more than I remembered. It seems you are forced to buy multiple day passes now in order to get reasonable entrance fees and they're still pretty expensive (for some of us anyway).

After spending a few hours on this board and mousesavers.com I've found just a few deals, specifically the Kids Free with Adult special and the Adult at Kid's Price special.

Still pricey though and I realized that if we make two trips to DL in a year, it is cheaper to buy an Annual Pass (Saturday blackouts don't bother us).

I have not been able to find any deals on Annual Passes though. Is this because there aren't any?

The other option might be to have family buy those 2fer passes at Vons for us. Do they ever check for SoCal residency at the gate on those? What happens if you get caught?

Thanks. :)

They dont have deals on APs (I wish...:) )

Ive heard both on the 2fers that some have been "carded" (drivers license) and others havent- I doubt if caught theyd let you in and I dont know if you'd get any break on gate prices...

The way the so cal 2fer works is that one person can buy up to 8 tickets. The ticket is valid 30 days from first use or April 28 whichever is first. If the tickets are bought at the ticket booth they must be used that day. Tickets bought at vons/pavilions don't have to be used that day. So Cal residence proof is required at time of purchase not time of use (not sure about vons ones, but those at ticket booth are). They expect people to buy for non so cal residence, just the person buying needs to be a resident.

You may use both parks in one day, however if you go to DL, then go to DCA, your DL portion is invalid so you may not reenter DL only DCA. They will not let you use these as a hopper.

You may however pay $20 more and turn it into a 2 day hopper
