Looking to give someone a nice gift of a bottle of Vodka or Gin. Something in the $30 - $50 range, I guess. I know he doesn't like Bombay Saphire Gin, but he does drink gin.

I like the occasional G&T with Tanqueray or Bombay Saphire.

I'm more of a vodka tonic gal and that's always with Sky, Belvedere, or Grey Goose (kept in the freezer)

ETA: I'm not sure how widely distributed this vodka is but there's a new vodka out there. I can't remember the name but the botttles are this interesting shape and it is infused with cranberries, pearl onions, or citrus. It's very good sipping vodka.

Citadelle Gin. It is a French gin that is made with many kinds of herbs- it is wonderful! You can even sip it straight to taste the full herb effect. I received it as a Christmas gift from a friend a few years ago. It comes in a pretty bottle too!

I am not a gin drinker but for Vodka may I suggest Armadale (distilled from wheat and barley) which runs around $34.00 or Chopin vodka which runs around $30.00 and is distilled from potatoes.

Grey Goose also has a nice neutral flavor and I find that it mixes well or is good straight (from the freezer of course).

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I am looking for something "different".... this may be it!

For gin, definately Tanqueray; or you can give the slightly higher class Tanqueray No. 10. Both would easily fit into your budget.

For vodka, I swear by Absolut, but I think that Grey Goose is the "in" thing right now.

Have to agree with that. I was compelled to do the in thing & buy Grey Goose. Came home & compared it to the Absolut I had left, no comparison!

My DH loves Ketel 1. It's what the CEO's at his old co used to give/receive as gifts. I have to admit, it's smooth :)

Grey Goose indeed, it's very smooth. The mid size bottle is about $30, the liquor store near here sells the mid size bottle in a wooden gift box so maybe that's an option

Bah! Vodka is Vodka. Basically a mixture of alcohol and water. Premium and Superpremium Vodka is regular old Vodka in a fancy bottle.

Now Gin is a different story. There are actually real differences between the various gins. Normally, I'd recommend Quintessential Gin for people looking for "something different." But if he doesn't like Bombay Sapphire, he probably won't like Quintessential.

Tanqueray No 10 is a very safe choice. Nice premium gin most any gin drinker would be happy to get as a gift. Kinda blah though, if you ask me.

Another good "safe" choice is Citadelle. Basically, the Grey Goose of Gins.

If you are looking for "something different" as opposed to the safe choices, consider Henrick's or Anchor Junipero.

Hendrick's is a very popular for people wanting a gin that doesn't taste like all the other gins. Comes in a very cool looking bottle that makes for a good gift.

Anchor Junipero Gin is a very "macho" gin - made by the folks who produce Anchor Steam Beer. Most gin has a subtle juniper taste; this, as the name implies, is very junipery.

Very nicely put :thumbsup2

Mmmmmmmmmmm...Gin  I love the way it "relaxes" the body and mind. Vodka doesn't even come close.

I used to like Grey Goose vodka until I had Belvedere....that stuff is so smooth :smokin: It also comes in a very pretty bottle  , just not enough in it sometimes :teeth:

What, no replies from any of the Lushious Ladies? :wave2:
