I have been waiting on code for this. Sometimes there are $50 codes and would love to offset the cost.
Can you use just the $25 a month plan or is there a need to the $10 upgrade. The minutes and text are avg about 200 month.

I have Verizon but do not want to put an I-phone on the plan for the little use it would have.

FYI:
We have had the Safety Link phone for free, the program is great for those on a budget that fuel assistance, or other programs qualify.

No, the $25/mo should be all you need. I believe the extra $10/mo is for Blackberry. I CANNOT WAIT to be out of my T-Mobile contract and get the Optimus V.

I don't like being tied to a contract, and VM appears to be exactly what I want.

I would be very happy to find a coupon for the VM OV. I would buy one early and just use it as a PDA with WiFi until my contract is up with TM.

Unfortunately you missed the deals. They were ~$130 at BB and Target about 1.5 months ago. They jacked the MSRP up to $199 now. Supposedly some Wal-Marts have them for $149 still (the old MSRP). I think Virgin oversold the service and that is why they raised the price. There were all kinds of data problems for a few weeks after those sales. Things seemed to have stabalized recently.

That is me a day late and dollar short :confused3:
I remember around the holidays the sales, I checked around at the local Kmart, Target,
I may have to suck it up I guess. Thanks for the heads up about kinks stabilizing.

Also keep your eye on Best Buy, they have sales alot. They have the Intercept on sale now for $169, which is $199 at VM site.

Not sure if you want all the bells & whistles, if not, dd has the Kyocera Loft ($49) w/ the $25 plan. She loves it.

Radio Shack sometimes have deals too and I think you get a discount if you sign up for their email.

I have the Optimus and I really like it. However the battery life stinks. I have to charge mine every night.

I have the $25 plan and the extra $10 is if you get the Blackberry.

This is the best phone I've ever had. I haven't had a problem with battery life either unless I played a lot of angry birds that day.

I haven't seen any codes for them, but they do go on sale at Target sometimes.

Love this phone!!!

got it at radio shack for $139 a couple of months ago.

I have 2 in the family - the $25 plan and the $40 plan..

Gave Verizon the boot.......that was the best part..

Battery dies faster when playing videos on You tube...

but just for talk it lasts me about 3 days

You can top off a plan if you are short on the 300 or 1200 minute plan for $10

and data and text are included free

this phone has voice to text messaging which is my all time favorite tool.....I used to hate to text...now I do it all the time as it is so easy

Battery life is highly dependent on your signal strength. If you have a strong signal you should be able to get 2+ days on a charge. Weak signals will drain the battery faster. You can use the phone unactivated for a few days to see if you have a good signal in the places you frequent.

You can get deals on the service. callingmart.com has coupon codes for 3% off + you get an additional 1% back as callingmart credit which you can use for the next month.

Target also will occasionally have sales on topup cards (I believe they are on sale this week) plus you can get another 5% off if you have the Target red card.

You can also just add a credit card and have it auto topup. They charge tax on the auto top up, in CA the top up cards in the store are tax exempt, no idea about other states.

It also depends on what apps you are using. We tried a GPS program called IGoMyWay, which was visually beautiful but took the battery down like a toilet being flushed.

Yes, it is -- all carriers that offer BlackBerry phones have to charge the extra fee to access the BB e-mail server (which gives users an e-mail address with a "blackberry.net" e-mail domian).

Just wanted to say that, according to the online price, it looks like Best Buy has these on sale this week for $159.99. Not back to introductory prices, but better than the full $199.99 :)

I have no luck at all, lol.
With the Holiday I stopped at Target and bought one Saturday. Maybe I can order online and then take the other back.
Thanks for the information :thumbsup2

Online it shows it at Best Buy for $159 but when you click buy it the price shows at $199 so you might want to call the store and check there.

Check www.Walmart.com too. I've been looking into this as well. They have the same lower prices. It's around $159 ish too. On Walmart's website you can click on the store availability button too for the Walmarts nearest you, then go buy it there.

ETA...Wow, I just went to the Walmart website and nearly all of the Virgin Mobile phones are gone. They were all there and for sale as of last Friday. I was trying to decide between the the LG Rumor touch, the OV and the blackberry. Now all of them are gone from the website.

Hey Budgeters! We have a trip in 3 weeks and have just bought the Virgin Mobile Optimus V (actually 2- one for me and one for hubby) with the $45 plan. Unlimited data, text, and 1200 voice minutes. Now with wi-fi on property, really looking forward to our trip in three weeks!!!!!

Anyone used their Optimus V at Walt Disney World recently? How was your coverage??
Thanks!
:wizard:

Hello! Last used my LG Optimus V September 2011 at Disney, with no problems. Great coverage and fast data too. We have the $25 monthly plan, so $50 for our family monthly, and we have unlimited texting and data, and 300 minutes. We LOVE Virgin and the plan has been awesome. So much better than overpriced AT&T. Have a wonderful trip!
