This is my 8th trip to Universal and my 13 yr old had the nerve to say he was bored <gasp> Well he has been as often as me. We stay at RPR and appreciate front of line. He said by the 3rd day we had ridden everything a 'million' times. I saw someone mention a 14 day trip to Universal. I think that's too long.... Any thoughts??

Nope never get bored there.

We stay at RPR for 2 weeks usually and we don`t go to Disney any more.....we love Universal....the rides .....atmosphere......everything!!

17 days this year and cannot wait to have family time at our favourite resort.

We don`t usually spend a whole day in one park, but we go nearly every day at some point. We also have a car so get around Orlando a lot too.

Each to their own. But 14 days is certainly not too long for us.

I have visited over 25 times since 1998, being staying on site since 2004.

Staying 4-6 days, never been bored, of all the vacations I have taken
staying at Universal is the one that I really get disconnected from the
"real world", so much to do, including nothing at all.

I hate to admit it, but my son said the same thing to me after our last trip. :sad1: It really had nothing to do with the length of stay, but more that we are annual pass holders and have been many, many, many, times as my parents live just down I-4. He said the same thing about Disney after our January trip. I really think it has more to do with the teenage thing than anything else. Yes, we know the parks and rides like the backs of our hands, but I know I'll never tire of any of it and right now my daughter feels the same. I think my son is just bored with the world! Seriously!! He just seems bored wherever we happen to go.

I did figure out a way to spice it up for him. We're going to hit Rock the Universe this September. He loves all those bands so he'll be super excited to go. He can do the band thing and I'll get my park fix! ;) Another thing I'll try in the future is to bring a friend along. I think he'd have more fun if he didn't have to hang out with his parents and sister the whole time. :upsidedow Geez, he's really sounding like a spoiled brat! The whole, he doesn't realize how luck he is...

started doing the darkside in 1993, haven't been bored yet of the parks.

stay on site at rph, which is a vacation on its own , and always find something new at that place.

i stay and do 10 days at the darkside and plan the next year's trip while on the plane returning home from the present stay.......

we all think different but a 14 day trip doesn't sound too long to me.

i do the motherland onsite for 8 nights then switch to the darkside stay so that puts me at 18 days for the vacation..

If nothing else...I like to head over and people watch but I don't get bored.

I think that the kids tend to get bored more easily. My son got bored with Disney and that's how we ended up discovering Universal to begin with.

I would spend a week at Universal but the kid is ready to move onto something else after a few days.

I think all teenagers go through a stage where stuff, even stuff they have really liked before, is something they say is boring or they don't like anymore. Or it won't be cool.

Especially when they are there with their parents. It will get worse before it gets better.:rotfl:

He is growing up and is getting to the stage where he doesn't want to be around the family as much. Now if he had a friend with him he would probably be excited to be there and if they were given a little freedom would have a great time. This works for us.

Or maybe he needs a summer camp away with some peers, to cultivate and start to learn to be his own young man.

Why don't you ask him what he would like to do instead of Universal and give it a try. He'll come back around and will probably ask to go in a couple of years.

I've spent more time in Universal than I could ever calculate since I first fell in love with the parks in 2005, and I couldn't get bored. I've ridden the rides literally hundreds of times. I know most of the lines by heart. I still love them. Maybe after 14 consecutive days of park-going I'd be over it and want to do something else... but I've never had the opportunity to experience that. I think I'd get bored of anything after 14 consecutive days!

Maybe it is the teenage thing setting in. I was 14 when I was allowed to go to Universal with a friend by ourselves... I went practically every day that summer, and LOVED it. Perhaps this is just an age for your son when family vacations aren't as appealing?

I wouldn't say we were bored as such but last time we stayed onsite, at the end of our 5-day stay, DH and I both admitted we were ready to leave. That was partly because we were heading up to St Augustine and were excited to see a different part of Florida but mainly because the unlimited express pass makes it so easy to ride everything you want as many times as you want that we really felt we had done everything we wanted to.

That said, we are staying onsite again this year and are staying for 5 nights again and I am very much looking forward to it. I can't imagine spending 14 days just doing Universal/IOA but we wouldn't spend that length of time just doing Disney either. I can't imagine ever being bored of Universal and Islands though, just as I can't imagine being bored of Disney :)

Yes I think u guys are right... Being a teenager he does grow bored with lots of things... Me included. Lol. I think next time I will rent a car. This time I didn't. Great replies :-)

As Macaulay Culkin asked the Sticky Bandits in Home ALone 2

Q: Have you had enough pain?

A: NEVER!!!!

I could never have enough of USF and IoA!
The last two years I go about at a slower pace and take my time and enjoy the park with no rush... unless it's HHN.. :lmao:

Cheers!

Marquibiri :thumbsup2

i have stayed 4 weeks a few times, mostly 3 weeks now,as we now usually hit the beaches for a week, and like Macraven says staying at the resorts is all part of the vacation, we sometimes dont hit any parks for at least 5 days, just relax around the pool

If nothing else...I like to head over and people watch but I don't get bored.

This is something I've found myself doing a lot.

I've been to Universal so many times so I find myself having fun watching first timers enjoy the park. I talk to people in lines and just observe (eavesdrop on lol) the people having fun.

It's one of my favorite things to do now. Very entertaining and enjoyable.

Always sort of thought I was alone (and kinda creepy) in that aspect though.

Because of various issues I don't really ride the big stuff any more but I still enjoy going. Like you...I enjoy watching people having a good time but I never thought it was creepy being alone. Because of work schedules down here it's hard to find time when a friend can go along with me plus I like to be more spontaneous and go whenever I want. Plus I don't feel obligated to stay for a certain amount of time.
