Any vegetarians eat at San Angel Inn for lunch or dinner?

How was the food? According to AllEars, I don't see any vegetarian entrees. I can see how you could order some of the meals without meat at lunch, but I'm not sure if it would be so easy at dinner. Anyone? :confused3

I read that you can request a small veggie menu when you arrive. Anyone have any experience with this?

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm bumping it because I am very interested as well (particularly since my DS8 is a vegetarian).

Sorry, too, don't have an answer. But the regular food is wonderful, so I'm thinking, "How bad could the non-meat food be?" But you would know better whether restaurants can serve decent meat food and still have bad vegetable food.

Good luck with better responses!

I ate from the veggie menu last year for dinner. Sorry I can't remember what it was - only that it was lovely!

I asked for the veggie menu and I got just a couple of choices, but it was great food.

Hope this helps!

We went in Oct and they have a veggie menu. We had the combp plate and it was delicious! It was huge and my 2 kids shared one for lunch.

Thank you for your replies! My friend will definitely give it a go!

Hi
I'm a vegetarian and ate at Mexico last October. I didn't ask for a vegetarian menu since we were splitting lunch. We ordered a combination which included burritos and tacos. I got the burritos without the meat and she had the tacos. It was very good. They can make up some of the entrees without the meat. Just have to ask. Also, they have great marguaritas. Have a great time!!

My daughter (who is vegan) and I ate there during our December 2005 trip and asked for the special menu. The chef came out and discussed with my daughter what dishes he could prepare to be vegan. The selection was not huge but we definitely enjoyed our meal.

i am a veggie and ate there with my non-veggie hubby in dec. We asked for the nachos with the meat on the side and were actually given a little trouble about it saying that the meat was in the cheese already. they ended up doing it. i ordered off the veggie menu which i think had 2 or 3 choices on it. i got the combo platter and thought it was just OK. the service was awful... we won't be hurrying back.

I am a vegetarian and had a great experience at San Angel Inn. There were only two choices and I ordered a combo plate that had a bean burrito and cheese enchillada. The plate was HUGE and I could only eat half of it. It was delicious though. I was also told that the tortilla soup was vegetarian and made without chicken stock so I tried it. It had a tomato base that tasted a bit like watered down campbell's tomato soup and was ok, but I don't know if I would order it again.

I'm vegetarian and have eaten at San Angel Inn twice (the second time on Christmas Day 2005!). The setting and service were absolutely SUPERB both times. In fact, on Christmas Day, my DH asked the cast member who was checking people in, "I know this is probably a silly questions because you are so busy, but is there anyway we could have a table next to the river? We sat there once before and really loved it. We would be willing to wait for it, but we understand if it's just not possible."

The cast member seemed very pleased to be able to grant our request and wished us Merry Christmas, with a big smile, several times when we were thanking him profusely. What a wonderful time we had! The server was also a delight, and took a couple of pictures of us with our camera at our request.

OK, the food: there is a separate vegetarian menu with 2 items on it. I had the combination platter both times. (I think the other item on the menu was a salad, if I remember correctly.) The first time, I thought it was very good. The second time, it wasn't very hot and I thought it was just OK. Worth every penny, though, for the experience of sitting by the River of Time on Christmas Day! :santa:
