So, I'm wondering how many Utah peeps are here on the boards and if you would like a to come chat with me? I thought it might be nice to see if there are others around me that share my love of Disney that I just don't know are close.

I'll start . . .

I live in West Jordan and have been going to the Land for just over nine years now I think it is. My family consists of me (Tas), DH, DD (21), DD (almost 17), DS (15), and DS (12). We typically drive unless it's just me and hubby going. Airfare for six, plus car rental is a bit of a trip killer.

Our next trip is in April and my younger dd already wants us to stop in Scipio to get popcorn, lol. It is typically our first bathroom break and the kiddos discovered the fresh popcorn you can get in an old fashioned box.

We've driven straight through before but have found that to be fairly brutal. We've gotten hotels to break up the trip in Mesquite, Vegas, and a couple towns in California but haven't found a perfect stop over point yet. Does anyone have a favorite place they like to break the trip up with?

I'm not, but my friend moved their 3 years ago. They love it. I am hoping to visit in 2018 for Salt Lake Comi Con. I live in California about 90 mins south of Tahoe. I love the area I live in. Sadly I am 7-9 hours away from Disneyland. If I am taking the kids it gets closer to 12.

We live in Provo. Our next DL trip is next week!

We have family in St George so we usually stop there. This time around we're spending next weekend in St George, goofing around Vegas on Monday and then staying in Primm for a night. It's only about 3-4 hours from there to Anaheim and the non-weekend rates are awesome. If you can tolerate driving all the way to Primm it's not bad. Plus we'll be in DL that day. One less night of an expensive Anaheim hotel.

We live in Highland. On our last trip down, we decided to split the drive into two days. (Driving the whole way on the way back isn't so bad since you get the worst part over with first.) We opted for the Staybridge Suites and were happy with it. I can't remember the name of the road it's on, but it's towards the south end of the strip and is in an area with a Marriott Fairfield, Courtyard, and maybe one or two other hotels. What I liked about staying here is that it was off the strip (not really my thing), quick freeway access, had a nice breakfast, and is only 3 hours from our in-laws in Corona. In the summer, you can wake up early before anyone else driving south and can get through the desert before the hottest part of the day. It was our first time splitting the trip like this, but I'm sold.

I don't know when we'll head down for our next trip. But when we do, I want to stay at The Disneyland Hotel and throw in a day at Universal. This winter has been brutal, and Momma needs a lounge chair...under a palm tree...at a resort...by a pool..on hot day...with a cool, non-alcoholic adult beverage in her hand.

I went to Comic Con for the first time last year and it was HUGE. It really blew my mind how much was there. I had just gone because my girls were going for the first time and I didn't know what it was all about. 12 hours is about what it takes us to get to Disneyland too. The last trip we did was on a Sunday and hit all the traffic between Vegas and Californina. It took over 15 hours! That was the most miserable trip one way we have done. Because of the excitement of going we hadn't slept much the night before. Now I don't plan trips that cross the state border on a Sunday and we avoid Fridays coming back. You live and learn.

We have had some very bitterly cold mornings haven't we? Are you high enough in Highland to miss all the inversions or do you still deal with that? I've had a cough for months. Hubby and I actually went to Disneyland in January for a couple days and don't think I coughed at all. We got home and it started right back up. It was so nice to see thes palm trees, the blue sky ect. Come January and February I am so done with Utah's winter so I totally understand the desire for the lounge chair and drink. I keep wanting to get to Traders Samsbut never seem to make it.

So do you like Arizona and the heat? I see that being a Nana is your superpower . . . you must be an awesome Nana if you have had the love of Disney for 60 years. One of my grandmas used to winter in Arizona. It was much better for her and my grandpa weather wise. Plus they had a daughter that lived there.

Ditto. I don't care what they think. My husband doesn't either. He just shrugs and walks off. One of his bosses is also a disnerd so that helps a bit haha. People who don't understand never will.

I think my kids could handle the car ride but I have a handicapped brother (who is 30) and he's tougher than them to deal with a lot of the time. The stop helps him regroup I think. Our last trip he was the one we stopped for with the millions of bathroom trips. uggghhhh lol.

Oh well, we love Vegas. The kids are excited to hit up M&M world HAHA

We're in Farmington! We were just there over MLK Day for the Star Wars 10K and decided to get annual passes. So we're planning a return trip for Spring Break. We had passes a couple of years ago during the one year my kids were both on year round school and it was awesome because we could go when everyone else was in school. This time we are all on traditional with a Jr High student that falls behind too easily so we are stuck going during busy times when everyone is out of school. It just means we have to go more frequently on shorter trips than before. We also have family in St. George to break up the drive which makes it nice.

Before we had family in St. George, we used to stay in Primm. But the last time we did, the room smelled of smoke and my kids and husband refuse to stay there any more. We've stayed in Vegas when we've had a Hilton Points to burn. There is an Embassy Suites right off the strip that is nice. This last trip, on the way home we stayed in Victorville. Not even close to half way, but it allowed us to spend most of the day in the park and then drive East a bit. That way we didn't have to fight traffic in the morning too and we still got home at a decent hour.

And we usually leave after school so we get to St. George at bedtime. Then we get up at the crack of dawn and get to Disneyland by 1 in the afternoon. Love that the time zones work in our favor heading west.

Have you guys done Coke World yet? We did a few years ago with our friends that live there and did the soda tasting thing. Some very strange flavors. M&M World is awesome. So fun but pricey.

Have you guys been to Cocoa Cola place? They have this sample soda thing you can do that is fun if you are adventuresome.

Welcome scrapshappen! Guess what? My husband and I were at Disneyland buying annual passes over MLK day weekend too! Our next trip? Spring Break! I bought the ap's for our kids the night before the price increase. When we first started going the younger kids were still in year round but they are all traditional now. It does make it harder to find time to go that isn't summer. I like going 4-6 times when we have the passes but it's hard with the kids in higher levels of school. I understand the problem of them falling behind. I don't think there really are slow periods any more.

We are hoping to go in July as well. Nothing booked yet but will need to do so soon. I really want to go with the Christmas decorations again but just don't know that any of the kids could miss school. Sigh.


Has anyone here ever gone over UEA? I've always avoided that time because I've heard it's so crazy busy but I wonder if it could be worse than the MLK/marathon weekend?

UEA is not that bad. We have gone four different years. The last time being 2015. Disneyland got pretty crowded on the Sunday but DCA was fine.

We are going for UEA this year. It's been a few years since we've been there right on UEA and Sunday was definitely the busiest with locals there. Arizona has fall break around the same time so it can be quite busy in general. The best was when we spent the actual UEA break in St. George and then went to Disney the following week. Those days are over. But my husband requested we go to another Halloween party there so we'll be there. I doubt it will feel any busier than MLK since more rides will be open hopefully.

We are also planning to go right after school gets out in June and hopefully for the Disneyland Half over Labor Day weekend. I'm also hoping we can fly down for a weekend after the Christmas decor is up but before Christmas break since we haven't done Christmas time in years. Then we'll finish up our APs with a trip back for MLK weekend and the Star Wars races again.

And just like that, we are for sure going for Labor Day. I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to get bibs for the 10K race, but we did just now through a travel agent. I cannot even begin to imagine how crazy busy it will be. But running through the park makes it all worth it.

Yes, I LOVE coke world. That's MY place haha. I haven't tried the soda around the world thingy yet because I really only drink water or diet coke LOL. My husband would love it..kids too. Maybe we'll have to give it a try this time



We're going on the last week of April this year. I was nervous because spring break but we're hoping that most places will have had theirs by that time. It's not even during OUR spring break that we're going haha. I remember reading about estimates on what dates might be less busy so I took a stab at it.

I'll join in! I'm in Kaysville and we are planning our next trip the very end of September. I'm super excited as it's been about 5 years since we've gone! This will be my youngest's first time (she is 4 yrs old). And I'm super excited NOT to have a nursing baby or diapers to change this time, lol. In the past we have driven all the way there in one day and I think we'll do that again. I'm not sure on the way back... Usually, we are all so excited to go that driving there isn't too bad. We wake up at around 4 AM and try to get the kids to sleep for a little bit in the car. Plus with dvd's in the car...it really entertains the kiddos! The way back is usually harder...so I'm trying to decide if we'll stay somewhere...and if so...where....
