Haven't seen any updates in awhile from various websites... anyone heard anything recently?

We're staying at ASM next week. I checked Disney's site and it would not allow me to make a resy there, so I'm assuming it's full. All Star Sports and POP Century were suggested as alternates.

Oh well, we're not planning on trying to do everything, so we'll just go with the flow!!

Len at touringplans.com was suppose to update his UG May Crowd Blog sometime today. I have heard all sorts of estimates as far as the crowds for May. We'll be at the Pop Century the 14th-20th, so we are interested in the anticipated crowd level as well

Ah, I got tired last night - I flew overnight from Phoenix to Newark and it wasn't the most restful experience. It'll be done today.

Expedia bookings for the first half of May still look busy. Second half looks much more open.

I'll start posting raw data to the blog today, hopefully with predictions for first two weeks of May. If anyone has any other data they'd like to see considered, let me know!

Len

I just checked the Disney website for our dates and every hotel poped up as a choice, so that is a good thing for us!

Hi folks,

The crowd blog has been updated with Expedia hotel availabilty for all of May. Another update scheduled for Sunday, where we look back at how the predictions have gone, and changes to the formula for the next couple of weeks.

Also, have I mentioned that in less than 48 hours, I'll be on my way to the Media Event? :cheer2:

Thanks!

Len

Can someone direct me to this site? I thought I had it, but I just checked and it says last update April 15th. :confused3 I must be wrong.

Thanks,
Rachel :wave2:

Len,

The crowd blog shows the 2nd week of May to be quite busy. Would you happen to know why park hours for MK are relatively short compared with the second half of May? It just seems to me that they should be longer. I'm just trying to understand why later hours in both late April and late May. Does it have something to do with day-trippers?

Have fun at the media event!!

We have been going to WDW (DW and myself) in May for the last five years (save one).

We have found that May is the least busy time to go. I have photos of DW standing in from of Small World with no one within 20 feet of her. If you have been there in the Summer, you know how crowded that area can be. May is between Spring Break and End of School, so you tend to get smaller crowds (at least during the week).

Why is the expectation for Predicted Peak Wait Time at MK for May 23 – 26 so high? In the expedia-statistic there are a lot of rooms available for this time-periode…

Can anybody explain? Is there still a 8-crowd-level for May 23 – 26? :confused3

the crowd blog is a great way to look at estimated crowds... however don't write it in stone. Travelocity's website differs some from Expedia as to which resorts on sold out on dates in May so who knows how many rooms are put aside for expedia/travelocity...

That may be true but this year is the big 50th Celebration.

but there's a celebration of some sort every couple of years... and this one lasts for i believe 18 months?

All of the past celebrations have lasted for at least 15 months - usually October until the following December.

We had the 25th WDW Celebration in 1997, Millenium in 1999-2000, 100 years in 2001-2002, then they started big with Magical Gatherings....

If last week's crowds are any indication, be prepared for huge crowds.

Just do early EMH, if you can. Take a break in the afternoon and go back later. And have lots of patience!

Len has updated the blog and it's not lookin good crowd-wise for us May folks. I want to do the EMH mornings to avoid the crowds but I'll have MIL and FIL with me in ECVs so I'm scared to park hop later in the day -- with the increased attendance what if there are no ECVs available at the next park? That happened to us on our last trip (which was also during a crowded period -- MLK weekend) after hopping to AK mid-morning. That also makes it risky to take afternoon breaks. :sad2:
