Any trend for those getting email codes?

We live in DC, but my mom lives in NJ and she's gotten e-mail offers and my husband got a postcard in the mail to her address in NJ, not our DC one. Not sure how that happened, or how my mom's e-mail offers come to my e-mail address, who knows.

I don't think they give "email codes" or any "discount codes" to anyone living in New Jersey. I never got one in all the years I have been going there....since 1975. I never knew anyone from NJ that got one either.

I live in NJ and I got one a couple weeks ago. Oddly enough, it was a couple days after I logged onto the wdw official site looking for October trip ideas. The e-mail had a discount code for Spring, but I deleted it since it wasn't for our anticipated time.

I wonder if the WDW website tracks people who check out the site and randomly sends them e-mails. Just a thought. I have been to the park twice in the past three years, but I've never given my e-mail address to Disney.

I live in NJ and only recvd postcard (via snailmail) once, maybe 4-5 years ago. We go to WDW every year.

We took DS's BF (he's 16 yo) summer 03 and he recvd a postcard in the mail at my address last summer. We have friends who go to WDW every year the same time we do and they would get postcards in the mail every year, with the exception of the last 2 years. (and they were living in the same town as us, moved and got one at their new home!) No rhyme or reason to any of this!

I ordered the travel planning kit from a tv commercial we saw Christmas Day. I recvd an e-mail from "Your Disney Travel Planner" today and it indicated what hotel I was interested in (I was on Disneyworld.com asking about POP), but no special deals/codes/pins.

We're going to Disney/Paris in April, and may be skipping WDW this summer. It would be interesting if we receive a postcard/e-mail w/code after skipping our annual trek to WDW!

We went to Disney in December '02 and then exactly a year later......December '03, we got a code for that same resort...AKL! So, we went in January '04! Then we got a code last summer for POR, which we had stayed on ONCE during that same December '02 trip. We didn't use it though, as it didn't work for our time period.

Then, my friend, who has NEVER been to Disney in her life, nor is she signed up at their site, got one about two weeks ago. $59 for any value resort for the mid April- early July time period. We jumped on it! She is a travel agent, and is signed up through our agency though, on the disney agents site, but that is it.

So, I have no clue!

Both my mom & I signed up for the planning video. I did not receieve an email. My mom got one -- your planning kit is on the way -- but no dicount. It did however, offer her AKL for $315.

There was no code or pin # on her email. I guess she just didn't qualify for a discount.

BTW, we both live in NJ.

I wnted to add that there are 2 places where you can edit your profile to receive WDW info. I had an old account and receieve the Insider & family fun emails. I checked all the boxes to get emails from Disney. I did all of this through the disney site, not the disney world one.

Today I found out that if you go to Disneyworld.com, log in & then go to the My Vacation (forget the exact name) section, you can also update your profile. I found out that the box to receive Disney resort & park offers was not checked. Let's see if that makes a difference in the future!

The last time I received anything from WDW was in February 2002 when I got a postcard.

Yesterday I received an e-mail similar to the ones described by others here on the board, offerring an $84 rate for a Value Resort from 4/16/05 - 7/4/05, and listing a 15-digit pin code.

:

WOW, we got this too, but for only $59! It is regularly $99 when we are going, so our rate is very good. We are hoping for AP rates though, since we are most likely going to get them this year with our two trips planned.

As AP holders, we get email codes quite frequently for both our AP and just general, unrelated codes, I believe because we signed up for the Disney Insider, free on Disney's website.
I question, though, why you need to receive these emails at all? If you go to mousesavers online, specifically http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#discountmenu, you can get codes year round that are similar, if not exact, discounts that you get from these emails. I always glance at the codes from emails (with PIN) or the Mickey Monitor that Disney sends, but have never used one because I can go on mousesavers a get the same discounts.
Other than being able to come onto the Disboards and brag to everyone that you got a discount code email  , these emails are overrated, IMO.
Please understand that if you are not an AP holder, the current discount code on mousesavers won't do you any good. There are no general public room only discounts out right now. However, some people are receiving email or regular post-cards in the mail that offer them only a discount. For example, my sister just got a postcard, but it is for her and she cannot transfer it (technically, I mean it has been done before if you get the right CM on the phone). So the email and postcard discounts are not overrated if you have no other options. Another example: with the discount email or postcard, one can stay at a value resort 4/15 to 4/17 for $79/night, without a discount email or postcard, the rate is around $129/night.

Hmm, each code I have gotten (two and my friends one that I am taking advantage of) is BETTER than what is found on Mousesavers and they come out LONG before the others do. So, not sure it is all about showing off really. We paid $109 a night with an email code. The mousesavers ones were $119 when they came out. $10 a night difference. And with 8 nights, that was dinner at LeCellier!

Okay, DH and I are both registered on the Disney site. I also receive the Disney Insider (I think that's what it's called) in my email, and I've ordered several vacation planning kits. We went last February, with the reservations in DH's name. He received a postcard rate with PIN for last fall, and just got an email with PIN a couple of weeks ago good through June, I think. I've never gotten anything.

Well i dont think that right either as I was just there is sept 2004 with a postcard rate and i received an email last week. Before that my last trip was was in may 2003
so .... i think its totally random but have to say im happy that i keep getting stuff

One of the girls I work with had never been to Disney, but signed up for the Disney Insider. She got a code a few days later. This was back in September or so. I signed up for the Disney insider, and still have received nothing.

Last year we had a reservation and got a code in the mail. This year we are still waiting. I hate that they make poeple wait sooooooo long! I always thought the earlier you made reservation the better price you would get but thats not true with DW. They make you wait to the last minute for everything! If we dont get a discount we are not going. Im not going to pay all that for a room when someone else gets it much cheaper! For the same room! Last year we got our code 2 month before we left. I tryed to look at the post mark but there wasnt one. I think we got it in April for our June trip.
