Any tips on a BCV studio?

Not expecting anything earth shattering, but thought I'd ask the question. We normally stay in 1BRs but are doing a studio for a few nights this weekend prior to a cruise next week. We have stayed at BCV before, and the studio we've had was BLT.

Thanks

are you staying at BCV or BLT?

would definitely go for higher - near epcot - world showcase if you can.

The studios at BCV are larger than ones at BLT.
My personal preference is upper floor, pool view, close to main elevators, but I don't mind the single elevator either because it's closer to parking.

Enjoy your stay.

I agree with the upper floor. but we go for the woods view, about half way down the hall in the "jog" to the right, rooms -39 and in there.

I booked a BCV studio through CRO and got a handicapped accessible unit. It did not have a wheel-in shower; I've heard that water gets all over the floor with those. However, there were grab bars in the shower, and the grab bars extended into the bathroom further than the shower curtain. Thus there was some water on the floor during every shower.

Also, there was absolutely no storage space in the bathroom. I understand that someone in a wheelchair might have to wheel up to the sink, so they would not put storage under the sink. I understand that they might need room to turn the chair around, so they might want a lot of empty floor space.

But there wasn't even room to leave a toothbrush near the sink. I found that odd - seemed like they could have put in a shelf or something.

Also - no towel bar near the shower. I had to put a towel on the sink in order to reach it when getting out of the shower. And several times I forgot. (My stupidity, I know; not Disney's fault.)

Also - no closet. Two very small closed sections with rods on either side of the dresser. But the vacuum and pack'n' play were in there, which didn't leave much room to hang clothing. There were two empty spaces where a closet could have gone. Perhaps they were left empty so that a wheelchair could be parked there. I pulled the vacuum out of the closet area and put it in one of those spots.

And here's the big irony: the dishes and glasses in the kitchenette were on an extremely high shelf. If I stood on tip-toes, I could reach the stuff on the front of the shelf. I couldn't reach the back of the shelf. So how is someone in a wheelchair supposed to reach that shelf?

I suggest calling and asking them to put "NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE" on your reservation, unless you need that type of room.

I hope this post doesn't make me sound like an insensitive jerk. I'm not saying that Disney shouldn't have handicapped accessible rooms. I'm just saying that they are a bit inconvenient if you don't have a special need for them.
