Any tips for visiting on Disneyland's Anniversary?

I'm thinking of going on the day of Disneyland's anniversary (July 17) since I've actually never gone before.

My main goals are to see the once a year anniversary cavalcade (or whatever equivalent performance), the normal anniversary cavalcade, the fireworks and meet all the characters in their 70th outfits.
For rides, I'm fine going on only Tiana's Bayou Adventure and whatever else happens to have a short wait after the fireworks.

Does anyone have tips on how early to arrive to get like a 2nd row spot for the one day only cavalcade and the fireworks on the anniversary?
Also, does the one day only cavalcade appear in the schedule in the app or is it "secret"?

I'm also curious about the logistics of the anniversary dedication speech. Is it something that happens before park open so only press and invited guests can see it? Or do you need to stay at a Disney hotel and have early entry to see it up close? I saw that it was on a stage set up in front of the castle for the 60th and it was at the train station for the 55th.

And finally, is there anything else special that I may have missed such as rare character greetings or flash mobs?
