Hi! I'm going to disneyworld in 42 Days!!

When my mother originally booked she booked an All Star when I wanted her to book pop. She did it on accident so when she tried to switch this weekend they were booked solid for the week we're going. So she told me that her and my dad would rather stay in a mod anyway so since my sister and her boyfriend are staying at CBR the same week, we tried switching there. Well they are booked solid also!! (gonna be a busy week!!) She decided on POFQ because we went to new orleans two years ago, she thought it would be nice! Well I'm excited! But now we're trying to convince my sisters boyfriend to switch to POFQ Also! He was almost sold on the boat to DTD idea, so what other tips or ideas does everyone have for this resort?

Thanks!

tricia.

WE loved POFQ....in fact so much we are staying there for our Honeymoon :cool1:

We loved the boat to DTD very nice especially @ night. WE also found the busses to be very adequate and timely. It is a centrally located resort so travel times were at a minimum, I think AK was the longest ride and that was only 20-25 minutes.

As for the resort, it is absolutley beautiful. Very romantic, but also very family oriented at the same time.....best of both worlds!! It isn't a "loud" resort, but is nice and lively. The food court there was excellent with a wide variety of choices. There is also a nice size pool area (with a great water slide!!) IMHO POFQ is a hidden gem and is like staying at a Deluxe without the $$$.

I really think you will enjoy your stay. Hope that helps some, have a great trip

I have stayed at ASMU twice and loved my stays I would return there for a trip if I could not go any other way cost wise. We decided that we would look around when we went on an adults only trip in June 2003. My wife and I went to every hotel but AKL. We really liked the yacht club but that was out of our price range. We were headed to DTD one night and went to POR to catch the boat. We thought a leisurely boat ride and a tour of POR would be great. POFQ was closed. We had really been interested in POFQ but thought POR would be worth a look. I am from the south and thought the theme would be "old hat" to me. I thought I wanted something different. The New Orleans theme at POFQ sounded more interesting but was not available due to refurbishment. In short we had a great night and absolutely fell in love with POR. We decided that we would stay here on our next trip. I was set to book POR when POFQ suddenly came open. I decided to go with POFQ and not book POR. I worried about this as we had really loved the feel of POR. We checked into POFQ and I immediately knew I had not made a mistake. The feel is the same. It is very relaxed and low key. Things seem to slow down and get very "vacationy" as soon as you get there. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are a little larger and more nicely appointed than the budget rooms. Where the budgets are a little loud and vibrant with a bustling of activity, POFQ is more quiet and subdued. It is still vibrant and very much Disney but the landscaping and design of the place really works to make the place intimate and low key. The pool is awesome. The boat access to DTD is extremely convenient and a trip not be missed. The place is completely different than a budget and well worth the extra cash if a laid back relaxing resort is what you want. After the crowds of the parks and the intensity of the heat this place will really work to relax youy completely.

Take a 12 minute stroll along the S. River to Riverside and rent their bikes for an hour and bike around the ground and to POFQ and back.

While at Riverside, take advantage of "pool-hopping" if you guys are not too tired. It might refresh you.

Take the horse drawn carriage (service after 6pm).

If you guys feel like strolling some more, walk around the pretty tiny streets and take some pixs.

They have a live band at Scats Cat lounge. Don't know what day/time they do this, but we were able to catch it one night.

FYI- When DH and I were at POFQ last month we rented the surrey bikes. Lots of fun, but it only took us 15 minutes to go around the resort. You had to stay on the path just for surrey bikes. IMHO it was neat, but we won't do it again. We also did the regular coasting bikes and that was great! We were able to bike back over to POFQ and grab our mugs (which we had forgotten before we walked to rent the bikes). The regular bikes allow you to see more of the two resorts. Also, they don't take credit cards, but you can use your room key.

We really loved POFQ. I am almost tempted to stay here again in October instead of WL, but I know DH will be disappointed. Of course it would be a win-win situation at either resorts ;)

Have fun, and take time to explore. Notice that the wrought-iron workings around POFQ are all different. Also, the slide's name is Scales :teeth:

Also, take a room on the 3rd floor so you don't have to hear the toliets flushing! :flower:
