Any Tips For Food & Wine Fest '05?

Some foods not to miss, IMO:

Australia - Lamb Chop & BBQ'd Beef Tenderloin
Russia - Beef Stroganoff
Australia - Lamb Chop
Poland - Kielbasa & Pierogie
Australia - Lamb Chop
Canada - Cheese Soup
Australia - Lamb Chop
Italy - Pasta Carbonara
Australia - Lamb Chop
USA - Crab Cake
Australia - Lamb Chop
France - Ham & Cheese Thingie & Creme Broulee
Australia - Lamb Chop
Ireland - Guiness Stew
Australia - Lamb Chop & Beef Tenderloin

There are obviously more I can't recall.

I highly recommend to everyone - get to Epcot early early - race over to the UK and reserve space at a Great Beers of the World Seminar. Very very limited seating, but a great little event in the UK garden area. It's much better than the pretty good Sam Adam's beer tasting.

Did I mention the Australian Lamb Chop & BBQ'd Beef Tenderloin?
I don't eat lamb (or veal, it's the whole cute baby animal thing that gets to me), but you almost convinced me to try it. LOL I do want to try the crab cake, but I'll be having them at Coral Reef, the same day for lunch. If anyone has had both (from CR and the F&W festival), is one better than the other?

DH and FIL are interested in the beer tastings. Do you have to make reservations for that? How much is it?

Oh I am SOOOOO Glad I didn't make a ADR for any place in Epcot! :rotfl2:

Is the beer tasting in the UK going on this year? I didn't read it on the Disney site (ony the Sam Adams one - blech)

Australia - Shrimp on the Barbie.
Florida - Spicy shrimp.
South Africa - Durban Spice chicken.
Norway - Salmon (don't remember the name).

Australia - Wine walkabout.

Those were my favorites, although we enjoyed the food at almost every stand. The only stand we didn't care for the food was Italy (sorry, not intended to offend).

The Entertainment at Australia was pretty cool. There was a lady singer who played guitar and two Aboriginal performers, one who played a number of instruments and another who did native dances. Can't wait for my kids to see them this year.

I know there are a lot of people who rave about the ice wine at Canada, but for us $8 a shot was a little much, and I didn't think it tasted that great.

Is there enough and is it ggood enough candy we could give it away for Halloween to trick-or-treaters?? LOL!!

It wasn't my idea of good (ie chocolate). :goodvibes The kids liked it though. Mostly hard candy, smarties , pixie sticks etc.
We stayed until the very end of the first night of MNSSHP and as we were leaving they were literally dumping huge handfuls into each bag. :teeth:

I don't know why, but when I woke up this morning my first thought was... Does Epcot's Food & Wine Festival have Greek food? Anyone know?

This is the menu from the Greek booth last year, I got it off of All Ears, they have all of the old menus.

Spanakopita $2.75
Mini Gyros with Tzatziki $3.75
Honey Baklava $2.00

Achaia Demestica White $2.25 ($12.95 bottle)
Achaia Demestica Red $2.25 ($12.95 bottle)

I just hope they post this years before I go on my trip. :flower:

This will be our first year doing F&WF. Can't wait.

I believe the Greece booth was over near the McD's fry stand towards the UK. Right across the street from the Fresh from Florida booth.

I would love to do this. Do you have to sign up ahead of time or do you just show up?

You are correct, if you were heading towards the different countries, you went to the Right, toward Canada. It was the first booth on the left, water side, before Canada. If you were going from the left, clockwise and Mexico was the first country, then the Greek booth was the last on your right side,or the water side.
Hope that helps.

Anyone know if they use the same placement each year? Do the Food booths from Countries that don't have a permant country in Ecpot stay in the same geographical location as they would be in life?

That did not come out right, but not sure how else to say it..

Maybe this- South American countries were near Mexico, and Italy had a Food booth in Italy,France=France, etc. So what is the logic for Food booths that don't have a Country that is rep. at Ecopt.

Goodness, hope someone knows what I mean, and also the answer...

Confused and counting the days....till WDW again!

I agree! This is fabulous. Unfortunately I didn't really get to enjoy it last year as I was having a gallbladder attack. Well the gallbladder is gone now, so there is nothing to stop me this year! :goodvibes

You very definitely have to sign up in advance. Each tasting is probably for fewer than 30 people, and there aren't a great many tastings.

But if you decide to just show up - you can stand outside and watch me drink a number of beers.

So on an Australia Wine About Tour or others what do I do with my kids?

Sounds so yummy. My diet will start AFTER I return from Disney! :rotfl2:

We went to Food and Wine last year but, did make ADR's and were happy. We have to eat al LeCellier when we go to WDW. We would be so bummed to miss it. This year we, of course, did LeCellier and also Chef DeFrance. We are doing Chef de France because, we have to be in EPCOT on Saturday Oct. 1 because, my husband and his brother are doing Dive Quest at the Living Seas - yes, it is still going on during the renovation. This is a time I would normally avoid the F&W Festival like the plague. The first Saturday of the whole event is gonna be mobbed. We plan on enjoying the festival during the week. I agree with the other posters that it is great to enjoy the festival during the week, especially for lunch or late afternoon. I just am not a grazer so, we really just eat at one meal time or the other, drinking is another story! As one poster mentioned, the Disney transport is a good thing when it comes to the Festival!

There is no fee, but if you really think there's a good chance you won't make it, you should cancel it. That will allow others a chance to get it since you won't be needing it. Not that ADRs are really all that nessecary in October, anyway...

And don't worry, even just eating from the festival booths, you will be full by the time you get all the way around WS!

They check IDs at all of the wine tastings. If you are not 21, you don't get the samples. In the places where they set out the samples before you come into the room, they direct underage people to the back, where there are seats, but no samples.

I was there last year too. I didn't have a gallbladder attack, but I was with my two DGDs (7+11) and they wanted nothing to do with trying new foods. Their idea of lunch/supper in Epcot is the take out in the America! This year it will be just DH and I...ahhh, we plan to spend at least three days trying every single booth!
