I am going the last week of Aug. Is it going to be crowded? Let me know all the useful info. I usually go in sept and in oct. But I am in a hurry this year

Late August is a good time to travel. Many schools in the south return to school in late August, so crowds really thin out at that time. Have fun! :)

We went the 3rd week of August in 2003. Holy crowds. Popular rides like Magic Mountain etc were all 45-90 minute waits.

My best advice is to get water bottles with fans at home for a lot cheaper than the at disney. You'll love them! It was my favorite thing to carry around. We also did a lot of fast passes and planned our rides accordingly.

Most of all don't be discouraged. Everyone wants to do the same thing you're doing--Having fun. So if the line is long? So what. that's part of the fun LOL

Take lots of pictures. If you're bringing kids.. DEFINIATELY spend the money on the pins. They love love love the pin trading and it really occupies them as they are waiting in line for rides.

Have fun!

Get to the parks for opening, leave mid-day-either eat lunch in the park & return to your resort or eat lunch at your resort.

Take a hop in the pool with everyone else, shower & go back to the park around 5ish.

I don't think the crowds in August are any worse then Six Flags as long as you plan it right-I mean don't expect to get on Splash Mountain mid-day, go early in the am or at around park closing.

My DKids' first trip was the last week of August 2002 and I thought they'd be completely spoiled by the experience! We never waited more than ten minutes for any attraction, and used Fastpass only 2-3 times in mid-afternoon when all the late-risers had hit the parks. We were always at the gate at park opening and while it seemed like quite a crowd right there, everyone spread out pretty well throughout the park and we ran right on to everything for the first hour or so. The only exception was Fantasyland (wow, what a nightmare) - we went to our absolute must-sees and then avoided that area like the plague! I'd happily return that same week any year.

Sunscreen! I got so burnt when I went in Aug for my bday trip! Even if you're just shopping in DTD or walking around the resort!

We go late August quite often. we live in VA and the kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day. There will be crowds but I've seen worse at other times of the year. It will be very hot with thunderstorms in the afternoons. Just bring ponchos and keep going!
