Im starting to plan our October trip. The one thing holding me back is that we are thinking of going the week of Columbus day. I have read that that day can be busy. Im hoping that it isnt the whole week. I think we can deal if its a little busier on Sun and Mon, but if the whole week is busy I might think of going a different week.

AFTER Columbus day, that Tuesday, should be fine. The OC kids on year round schools go back by the 15th, not sure what day columbus day actually IS but the kids have the first 2 weeks of October OFF so plan accordingly.

It is the 8th. We will be there from the 7 to the 11th. That is the 2nd week. Maybe Ill change it to the 3rd week.

That's the week were going. The 9th-13th, or Tuesday to Saturday. I'm hoping it going to be better after Columbus Day itself too!

Schools here in LA and OC dont have Oct off... but they start school mid Sept. Columbus day isnt big holiday so we usually dont get it off that day.

I think we might be changing our dates, either the next week or later in the year. Im kinda indecisive.:sad2:

I know it can be hard to predict. Later in the month worries me, because I'd imagine more people would come closer to Halloween to enjoy the decorations, and the Holiday Haunted Mansion.

We did it later in October one year and it was very crowded, but it was a weekend, so I'm sure that played a big role. But we were so surprised by the number of people there!

Honestly I'm not sure there are many times in the year when it's not crowded these days! :confused3

We usually go in January, and that isnt bad at all. But there is a higher chance of things being down for referb. DSS really wants to se HM since it was closed last time. The other times that we have thought of was the 1st week of Nov. or last week of Nov. :confused3 I just have to decide:sad2:

I would think the first week of November would be really good. I've also heard that the second week of December is good (just make sure and go before the schools get out for winter break).

I'd love to do a January trip myself. For us it's a matter of getting through the mountains here (we always drive). In January there can be lots of snow for us to deal with!

I would love to go in Dec. DH is woried abour DSS missing another week of school. Jan is great, the weather is nice, and crowds are low. The last time we went in Jan it took is 2 1/2 hours to get over the Siskiyous! Gotta love snow :crazy2:

Do you know what day they start school this Sept? Our schools here go back the middle/end of August and I didn't realize the LA schools went back later.

We are going Oct 14th-18th. I'm hoping that the parks are nice and quiet that week since it will be after Columbus day and before Halloween... but who knows.

We are going to be there at the same time!!
