I want to plan a 9 day stay at SSR for the second week in July. However, I want to wait until I know for sure that we can afford this. I am pretty sure we can. I will know better at the mid June.

I could call DVC and make my reservation, however, I am afraid I may need to cancel less than 30 days out from the ressie. My points will then go into a holding account to be used less than 60 days out.(right?) This won't work for us because we are a slave to the school calendar and need to go during peak times.

So.....What are the odds of waiting until mid June and getting a studio one month out.

I think I know the answer to this:sad1: Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

Thank You!!!!

Anything is possible, so it can't hurt to try - BUT - remember that at 60 days any DVC rooms not reserved using points are turned over to CRO for cash reservtaions, so that will tighten any availability at that time.

Good luck!

I'd book as many days over the time as you think you might be able to go. Maybe 5 day S-F segments leaving the weekends bare or possible a cancelable cash reservation for the weekend. Each 5 day segment will stand on it's on so if you have to cancel, you can do so one segment at a time. Then are you near 31 days for each segment, cancel if you are not fairly certain you'll need it. Then if you find a particular segment works, you can add in the weekends on points if you want and cancel the cash ressie. As long as you cancel and don't borrow points, no risk at all. But you've given yourself a lot of options you won't have if you just sit there and wait till you know for certain. And if you end up know you can go less than 30 days you can still call and see if there's anything.

Another option is to rent your points then concentrate more on cash ressies that have a more generous cancelation rule.
