Any success using codes for any of the villas?

We are interested in staying at BWV in May '03. I want to book now for fear of not getting a 2-br. especially seeing that all the villas except OKW seem to be booked for the remainder of this year. So I'd like to book within the next couple of weeks, but I really don't think we can afford rack rate if the codes won't give us any discount. I've already tried to convince DM to "rent" points but she's not quite as trusting as I am, and she wants the daily maid service (even though I would do all the cleaning anyway).
ANYHOW...
Has anyone had success doing this??
Thanks in advance,

Hi KJal1-
Typically, the codes do apply to the villas, but you won't be able to know for sure until the codes for your dates come out. So, if you have your heart set on a specific resort, you'll either have to rent points or pay the rack rate. I have rented points in the past and it worked out beautifully. Most of the people on the board are honest and want to make an honest deal. We often travel at Spring Break when discounts are few and far and have found that renting points is a good way to save some money.

Good Luck!

I think we may be forced to rent points. I just called and they have NO 2-br. villas available at BWV for our dates. They do have VWL (which surprised me) and BCV available (which is themed like New England so that's out of the question, only because we're from NE). But DM had her heart set on BWV, actually she wanted to stay at the Poly. again but I changed her mind. Hopefully I can about renting points. I just can't believe that they've already sold out and it's 10 months in advance!!
Thanks for the info!!

I had a VWL pkg booked using the Fall Fantasy Pkg - and then when the DC one came out - called and added the new code to get the extra $50 off. It was a good break off rack rate for a 1BR Villa, I think it was about $289 a night plus tax - plus the UPH's. Interestingly, I tried to book this myself, both pkg and room only and could not. I ended up going thru a travel agent as I was losing too much time to this, and they were able to get us the pkg rate - we could get VWL or OKW, BWV was not available for every night we needed, only some, and BCV was not available with the codes at all. Good luck!

BWV is a DVC resort. It is sold out which means that approximately 96% of it is owned by the members. Disney keeps 4%. The rooms that CRO rents for cash comes from the Disney owned percentage (which is also used for maintenance and rehab purposes) and from rooms made available when DVC members use their points to stay at some of the non-DVC resort options (like at the Poly or AKL for example). May 2003 is too far away for many rooms to be in the "cash inventory". DVC members can make ressies 11 months ahead of time at their home resort and 7 months ahead of time at the other DVC resorts. IMHO, there won't be much cash inventory until at least 6 months ahead of time, maybe less.

I can't tell you exactly when there is likely to be more availability, but I can recommend that you keep trying every few weeks. DVC point inventory that is still unreserved 60 days ahead of time is made available to CRO to rent for cash. You probably don't want to wait that long, though, so the best advice is to rent points. FWIW, if you make your arrangements through the DIS Rent/Trade Forum, it is very unlikely that you will have a problem. To the best of my knowledge, no one has been "cheated". I'm sure if that did happen, it would be posted all over the boards! Good luck!
