I really want a bunk bed room at GCH. I was surprised to discover that it's not a booking category like it is at Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge at WDW.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how to increase my odds of gettting a room? Any room category have more bunkbed rooms?

Thanks!

We had a standard room booked and requested a bunk bed a week before going. It was the end of January that may have made a difference. It was great to have the extra floor space.

We did the same - booked a standard room and requested a bunk bed by calling in advance and asking them to add the request to our reservation. I made the request several months in advance, but I'm not sure whether that made any difference. I asked about the bunk beds again at check-in (and told the CM at check-in that we were willing to wait for a bunk bed room if necessary.) This was August and GCH looked pretty busy at the time (in fact, the pool seemed more crowded than California Adventure!)

Good luck!

We requested them when our kids were younger. I called 3 weeks prior to our trip, and then 3 days prior to arrival. I have always heard that they put you in your room a few days prior to your arrival, so this keeps your request fresh in their minds.

We have stayed in both types of rooms at the GC--a room with bunk beds, and a room with two queens. The bunk bed rooms are darker and seem more crowded to me for some reason. Although many people do request these rooms, there are just as many (if not more) people who don't want them, so I think your chances of getting one are pretty good. They are a bit small for older kids and teens, so the bunk beds are better for younger kids.

They were perfect for my kids when they were younger because if I remember correctly there is a trundle bed that pulls out from under the bottom bunk--perfect for 3 kids like we have.

That's exactly what we had for our three boys last August - it was great! Whenever we stay in a room with bunk beds, our youngest usually feels left out because the two older boys get the bunks. But at GCH, the trundle allowed him to be a part of the whole bunk bed thing - it was great!
