As to oversold flights, Priceline-ticketed passengers are entitled to the exact same re-accommodations and compensation as any other passenger. If the passengers to which you refer were treated differently, then they were at the mercy of an ill-informed airline employee, not due to Priceline's rules.
I've heard countless accounts of Priceline-ticketed passengers voluntarily electing to be bumped, for compensation up to $1,000!! One even took multiple bumps and earned vouchers totalling $2,200, all on a Priceline ticket.
