Any Star Wars WE experts?

Thanks for the great links!

Our 2 DS (6 & 11) have just recently got into Star Wars so we made sure to plan our trip to coincide with SWW ... they have no idea when the trip is, only that it's soon! As for SWW, I told them Disney must have cancelled it this year because I haven't heard anything about it. :lmao:

They are going to be sooooooo excited!! :woohoo:

We went two years ago, and we went to sign up for the trivia first. When we went to get passes for the autographs (Anthony Daniels) they were gone. Passes were still available for the other autograph (Andy Secombe). So you may want to decide your priorities!

BTW, the trivia was pretty neat, but the questions were hard. Study Up!

We will also be there over the Memorial Day weekend. Does MGM have a handout at the gates for all the activities when you go in--or do I have to compile everything from these website (I speaking of the locations of fastpass tables for autographs, Rebel vs Empire area, etc.)

Hey, QuickGold, that sounds like a great plan. ;) But, I thought it was our little secret. :rotfl2:

Seriously, are the plushes only sold at Tatooine Traders? There is no way we can afford the LE pins, etc. We would love the Darth and Jedi Mickeys. BUT, I don't really feel like waiting in line for an hour for stuffies.

I got my plushes, the weekend t-shirt, the poster and a couple of pins from the Golden Age Souvenir place. The more limited pins and coins you did have to go to Tatooine Traders for.

you are good! Thanks for the plush and poster info! I have already altered my plans.
May the Force be with us all!!! (and a little pixie dust wouldn't hurt either) :tink:

According to the Stormtrooper who's bringing me as her guest, the parade will be at 11am. :thumbsup2

that darth goofy is soooooo cute ... have to get one of those.
This will be our first trip during star wars weekends ... we love disney and love star wars so it is perfect.

can anyone tell me how to get my kids into the "training academy"? Is there somewhere we have to sign up or is it the luck of the draw. Are there any suggestions or hints on how to get them in the "academy"?

If your child wants to be chosen, he/she needs to be jumping up and down, waving their arms and some screaming wouldn't hurt either. They like enthusiasm so have your kid show lots of it. Also, I'd get there early enough so your child is front and center and easy for the Jedi Master to spot him/her.

thanks Quick. So pretty much let them go nuts and hope for the best. Sounds like a plan to me.

Does anyone know how long each event lasts? For instance, WWTBAM, the trivia events, parade, etc.

Also, oh, darn I lost my train of thought.... I'll get back to you.

has anyone heard any more scheduling info? It seems that with an 11:00 parade time it would be almost impossible to watch it and see either of the WWTBAM shows if they are scheduled at 10:30 and 11:45 again.

Last year, we made it to both showings of WWTBAM with the parade in between...we made it out of the first showing just in time for the parade...we found a spot later in the route as it had already started, but we didn't miss a thing...it does matter though, if you have an extended version of WWTBAM, meaning someone is answering questions right and getting up there in the points..I know people who have missed the parade altogether cause someone was close to winning the cruise...if you have to see both, I'd skip the first WWTBAM and go to the second, to ensure you don't miss it...or if you can fit it in to your touring plans, seeing the parade on a second day...

The parade was only about 10 minutes from your perspective point...meaning it starts at 11 but depending on where you are in the route may not reach you for another five minutes..but once it does, it takes about 10 minutes...

The other trivia game can last a while depending on the participants...I think last years lasted about 30 minutes...it gets knocked down to a handful of people, and if they know their stuff, can go back and forth until someone gets a question wrong....last year, we just watched, although this year we may join in...but the questions are TOUGH!! And I'm not sure what the prizes were...can't remember at the moment...

Hope this helps!! I'm so excited just talking about it!!

Hi all.
First off I am a newbie to the whole disney thing. I have been once in my childhood and once early in my marriage. My family Dh, Me, dd and ds are going this august.
I was just looking around on these boards and this thread intrigued me.
My ds is an absolute star wars nut, as well as his father. I did not even know until recently that disney did a whole weekend of star wars.
I have a question:
As there is no way for us to go this year, I was wondering how to find out when next years will be? Would be a wonderful trip for ds and dh.

Thanks so much for the help.
Terri

First, welcome!!!

As for Star Wars Weekends, they usually start the third weekend in May and are scheduled to run for four consecutive weekends, Friday Saturday and Sunday. The last few years though, they have been extended an additional few weekends, making them run through most of the month of June as well....they are huge fun even if you aren't a star wars fan, but a dream come true if you are!

You can check out QuickGold's great website mentioned previously in the thread and also see some additional Star Wars Weekends past on starwars.com, just use the search feature for some great pics.

Hope this helps!!

My Husband and I went to Star Wars weekends last year for the first time whilst on Honeymoon. We had a great time especially running in the pouring rain after Fantasmic and loosing our flip flops constantly just to get back to Tatooine Traders to get our SWW merch. without the STUPID lines! I love my Jedi Mickey so much!!

When we arrived the first day we walked towards TT to see what they had for sale, and we saw this big line outside being conrtrolled by CM's and assumed it was for someone to meet etc so we just walked in and started browsing. As we were inside we realised we had walked in the exit, so we made good use of the time looking but the lines for the tills were too long!

Amy,
Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
This whole disney thing can get overwhelming very quickly I think.

Terri

Amy Belle - Thanks for the details regarding show lengths. I am so excited!! Working on costumes today. :cool1: DS has no idea. He he.
