Any SS Treehouse experiences to share??

We are leaving in a week for our stay at the Treehouses at Saratoga. I have been looking for threads regarding stays there to see how things are working out, but haven't had any luck. I did follow one thread of a member who stayed the first week they were open and was nice enough to post his thoughts live during his stay. But was hoping to read about more experiences too......

Just got back from 6 days at THV and I have to say it was most enjoyable stays I have had in a long time. I am a very rustic person by nature and loved that "glamping" feeling. (combination of glamore and camping) It was very quiet and peaceful and the villa, itself, was everything expected. We had a canal view and I liked seeing all the boats going up and down it and would sit out of the deck and wave to the people going by. The only downside is the bus transportation and the lack of parking. You can only park one car over there (and they are strick)about parking more than one. With the bus transportation you have to take one bus (internal) to either the Grandstand or Springs in SSR and then take another to whatever destination you want. It's not that bad, though if you don't mind waiting on the buses. Some people like to take their car to the parks but I am one who doesn't like to fight all the traffic to and from the parks when I am on vacation.

I think you will like the accommodations. I am definitely going to go back there again. I am so glad my home port is SSR. Makes booking the THV easier.

Sounds heavenly. I will for sure request a canal view for our Oct 2010 trip. I imagine how peaceful it is after a long day in the parks.

We will only have one vehicle, so that is not a problem. I am disappointed to hear about the bus situation. I was really hoping (wishful thinking) that they would change the two bus system. I will be using an ECV and hate loading and unloading, so having to do it twice each way is really depressing. I did request a location near the walking path, if we should be so lucky as to get that, how far of a walk would it be to go directly to one of the regular bus stops, bypassing the internal altogether?

Did you use the bunk bed room? I will have 2 teenage boys sharing it - will they fit? They are both probably 5'7" ish.

I was so excited to hear that the treehouses were available, and thrilled to be able to get into one, but now, with less than a week to go, I am getting very nervous about my choice.

We stayed at THV in June for 3nts. The accomodations were lovely. My biggest suggestion is to make sure that your outside light by the front door is OFF when you go out for the night. We found out the hard way arriving home at 1a our first night to a door completely covered with little green moths - literally hundreds of them. There was no way to get into the room without letting a number of them in too!

We used the bunk beds but our kids are only 7, 8 and 12yrs and the tallest is 5'3''. It is a regular twin bed length so they should fit.

He said the path is NOT illuminated and you go through a very dark section along the golf courses. I don't know if there is more than one path or if they might have added lighting since we were there in early June but I wanted to share that.

We did not request a handicap unit. Our plans are to store the ECV near the base of the unit, we have purchased a cover and an outdoor extension cord to charge it and to protect it from the weather. The path not being illuminated shouldn't be too much of a problem since there is a light on the ECV. At least there was last year.

There are two full bathrooms. One is in the master bedroom and the other is off the hallway where the other two bedrooms are and the washer/dryer "closet".

Tanya, we stayed at the THV for a week last month and had a wonderful time!! The units are amazing!!! We felt like we had our own house in our own neighborhood within WDW. Our unit was near the THV dock and it was heavenly looking out our windows to the Sassagoula River.

One thing I found out about the THV when we went on the DVC Tour, our guide said the bunkbeds have a limit of 70 lbs! That third bedroom is almost useless unless you have small kids! If you have bigger kids, I would take a blow-up bed to put in that room.

I would chalk that up to bad info from your guide.

I would agree with ACDSNY, I've never heard such a thing.

Our 100lb, 5'3'', 12yr old DD slept there in June without a problem.

We're heading to Florida on Sunday and will have two vehicles. We plan to park one at the Grandstand, which is what I believe others have posted they were told to do.

Oh gosh, I can't remember if they had those! I'll ask my dh when he gets home later if he remembers.

We also considered grilling, but ended up not doing it. Just didn't want to take the time and deal with all that it entails. Our next door neighbors there grilled though, and it smelled so good and made us second guess our decision for a moment. yum

I'm fairly certain that they did. We didn't use them but I remember making a comment when looking in the drawers that there was something. Probably just tongs and a flipper.

Glad to hear that maybe our guide was wrong about the 70 pound limit! I thought that sounded strange when she said that!!

Does anyone know if they have added locks on the bathroom or bedroom doors? And is the internet connection just in the master or have they added one in the kitchen/tv area?
